Reasonably optimistic if we dont run out of time!

    Hi all

First of all im a newbie poster but not follower. Ive followed since the old bbc days. The last year or so i stopped even reading as i had lost all enthusiasm even though i retained my season ticket etc.
I used to be a member but rarely posted but couldnt remember login details so created a new one!

Anyway be the fact i am reading and posting means im more optimistic about all things NUFC than i have been. I feel we are trying to get some good quality through the door but my only concern is it seems to take an absolute age to get the player we are after theough the door, i know its a complex deal bringing a player in but other clubs seem to able to get them in pretty quick!??!?! Anyone remember when we used to show an interest and they player would be here in a day or 2? If our current persuit of Mitrovic comes off it will have been weeks and weeks in the making which was the same as the Wij deal. Im very concerned if this continues we are bot going to get the 4/5 signings Sscteeve declared we wanted!

A couple of predictions from me ( if time doesnt run out)
    Incoming
    Wij
    Mitrovic
    Austin
    Chancel Mbemba Mangulu
    Mason Holgate
+ 1 more defender possibly Douglas

    Out
    Cisse
Sissoko (i think wij is his replacement)

I think the net outlay will be around 35 million.

Looking forward to being part of the 606 board!

    RIP J&L

Optimistic? Why? One signing or two wont make enough of a different im afraid. We have nobody who can play football still

Mitrovic I'm less convinced but Gini is certainly a class signing. Won't be happy until they sign atleast two defenders though.

Three defenders but two minimum, however im 100% certain we dont have anyone in the middle that can play football so we will struggle

Gini seems excellent, the glimpses I've seen from De Jong if we can keep him fit, he's alright.

i call our dealings "tantric transfers". Why bang it out quickly, when you can spend weeks slowly moving closer together whilst staring into each other's soul with the intensity of a thousand kamikaze pilots, before someone inevitably gets bored and signs for Villa?

I even got so bored of the metaphor to describe our transfer policy, I ruined it.

I think its pretty much the same for most clubs nowerdays. The money involved, agents etc make it complicated. It just feels like it takes a lifetime because we are checking every 5 mins to see if anything has happened.

Welcome. Personally I think Holgate looks Man U bound but would be a good option to give us the cover we don't have at RB. We need maybe a good few more through the door. If we only get one CB and one striker then we might survive. However if all we sign is Mbemba and Mitrovic I'd be worried as they are young and coming from a weak league.

Mr Tiote, i thunk its the quality that we seem to be going for rather than quantity. Personally i prefer the tinker approach rather than trying to buy a whole new team aka the QPR model! Seen it too many times when wholesale changes are made it creates alot of unhappy players still at your club creating a hell of a stench in the background!

Im enjoying the kove train guys, thanks for the welcome! Found the MDF Particularly amusing, should have thought harder about the username!!

Me too and think we could well get that many but i dont think all will be ready to start in the 1st team! Hope they are though!

By whole sale i meant 10/11 like qpr did

We'll hopefully get the guys in process plus another 2 (CB and winger), and with that I'll be happy to see how it goes. Could do with a more defensively reliable LB and a replacement DM for Tiote who I think has his best days behind him, but I think it can wait til Jan when we see how the new lads bed into the squad.

Even with Gigi, Mitrovic and Mbemba added to the ranks we are twice the team we were last season, and rumours of more in the pipeline can only be good news.

The main challenge tactically will be keeping our attacking mids happy and healthy. We've got Gigi, Sissoko and De Jong all competing for similar positions, and I want to see what each of them can do given a run in the team.
