Good enough to put us in the top ten Championship sides ? I have to say that so far this summer its been a lousy performance - by our board for not bringing in one decent recruit to the club. There is no way our team will compete at the top half of the Championship with only 15 players what a waste it seems !
Have no fear new players will come in to bolster the squad, do you think cotterell & the staff are stupid...patience, it will happen.
To be fair we have a really really strong core of players here Fielding, Ayling, Flint, Williams, Bryan, Smith, Freeman, these 7 will be starting nearly every game, which only leaves 4 places, of which Little, Agard, Pack, Wilbraham will currently take. Make 4 signings of those positions and not only will we have a solid starting XI but 4 players on the bench who can change the game, plus our youngsters. Signings will be made, no doubt 4 will be the minimum. Chuck in 2 maybe 3 loans and we're sorted. Whose to say the new signings would push any of our current team out of the side? We might very well carry on as we did last year with the same team with our new signings coming off of the bench too see out the final minutes after another win.
An injury to any of those first 7 and we will have serious problems. We got lucky with injuries. Also, our only fit striker right now is 35. That is not enough for the Championship Sorry to rattle yer cages guys, but I think there is a certain level of complacency with this
Why do we always seem to do things on a hope and a prayer? When reading, and analysing, the transfer activity of other clubs in our division I get the impression that they have targeted an individual for a specific purpose and that their negotiations are completed relatively quickly and well in time for the start of the season. We all know that this is a vital year for us and we need to get it right if the euphoria, rightly earned in the last campaign, is not to disappear like the tide on the Somerset Riviera. I know the stadium rebuild is critical in supporter's minds but surely the on-field results rank even higher because without a viable well followed football team the stadium becomes about as useless as a hat rack to a moose. Like so many I await the new season with hope and expectations but I just want to see some new blood come into the club so that when I return from my voyage of discovery up the coast of Vancouver Island the new dawn will arise. All sounds very mystical doesn't it but we are actually paying to spend a few days on a coastal freighter that services remote communities and I will be driving and Ann will be cooking (joke!). Lack of communications up where we're going so will you make sure that the business gets done in my absence please?
P.S. I never even knew Pucklechurch existed so City's trip to Portugal wasn't in vain and they met a nice man called Osama somebody.
