Still don't think he'll go too far north which seemed to be very important to him not so long ago. Still think he'll go to Palace and will be a brilliant fit in that team ahead of Zaha, Bolasie and Puncheon.
Newcastle close to signing Serbian striker Alexandar Mitrovic from Anderlecht for fee in region of 13 mil. (All from sky sources). Doubt they would spend roughly the same on another striker so that could be another possible destination gone.
Aston Villa plan transfer of Charlie Austin from QPR using their Christian Benteke windfall 22:30, 18 July 2015 By Ralph Ellis With £32.5m coming in after Liverpool met the Belgian's release clause Tim Sherwood is in a position to meet Hoops' £15m asking price Aston Villa will move for Charlie Austin to replace Liverpool-bound striker Christian Benteke. Boss Tim Sherwood hopes to use his relationship with QPR director of football Les Ferdinand, who he worked with at Tottenham, to smooth the way for a £15million deal that will leave Newcastle, Palace and Leicester disappointed. Austin, 25, scored 18 goals in 35 appearances in his first year in the Premier League to force his way into Roy Hodgson’s England squad. A move to Tyneside has stalled so far because the Geordies would not match QPR’s asking price. But with £32.5m coming in after Benteke’s release clause was triggered by Liverpool plus a further £8m from Fabian Delph’s move to Man City, Sherwood wants to spend a sizeable lump of that on a new striker. Elsewhere, the Villans have signed France U21 defender Jordan Amavi — French club Nice confirmed they had accepted a bid that could total £10m. The left-back was left out of a friendly to come to the UK for a medical.
Genius article. Anyone could guess that Villa might move for Charlie with their Benteke dough, which is all this reporter has done. Nothing factual, just speculation.
...as I said, if it was a popular incoming player and betting was suspended, it wouldn't be a load of old w*nk. People believe what suits!
16-pages on one player? A good footballer and a likeable guy, but Jaysus, he's no super star. However, I hope he stays with the club, he would not be happy with Newcastle, I am certain of that. Chelsea? Well, maybe, would rest on how he got along with this Mourinho fellow?
Hey, were big on Charlie. On another subject ............... I like your, "Charity begins at home" slogan. I'm a believer too! Charity begins at my home .............. please give generously! PM me for direct deposit details.
At least it's only 1 thread......if it had been "He who shouldn't be named" we would have 16 threads all 1 page long......
Bookies reckon Austin destination sealed Posted by Hugh5outhon1895 on July 20, 2015 in News, Whispers please log in to view this image Aston Villa have been backed from 16/1 to odds on with Sky Bet to sign Charlie Austin. Despite constant speculation that West Ham have been interested in the player ClaretandHugh has regularly reported that the club are cool on the QPR hitman. They believe at £15 million he is over-priced and have doubts about his fitness record. Villa boss Tim Sherwood, however, with Christian Benteke on the brink of a £32 million move to Liverpool and having sold Fabian Delph to Manchester City is now a massive favourite to get Austin. West Ham, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Spurs have all been linked to the England man too, however Tim Sherwood looks to have taken a step towards bagging Austin.
And only 2 days ago sky bet suspended betting on him going to Toon, means nothing. Won't believe anything til it's official.
My guy feeling is that he'll stay with us. I think he realises his ambition of playing for one of the big six is unrealistic and would restrict his game time. As for England, If he couldn't get a game for England when he was in the squad and under those circumstances, he never will. To play for any of the other Prem sides ( Villa & Bournemouth ) touting for him would render him most likely for another relegation battle. Palace, West Ham or Southampton would be a good fit for him but with an improved contract he may as well stay here and be part of the revolution. I say this more out of hope than insightful insight though. He may well be on his way tomorrow. I hope not. Although if he did leave I think we have a ready made replacement in Polter. He's the same age as when Charlie joined us and has a similar if not better pedigree.
Sorry 999s. I am sure he will go...and sure he will go to Villa.......I also suspect that he may not be the sort of player that the powers that be may actually want for next year.... They seem to be putting together a new team of workers...they do not want last year's superstar hanging around. I think they are starting anew. I am more wondering if we are keeping the midfielders Phillips and Fer......would love to see Fer and Chery play together....but again wonder if they are just too alike...comments please
Nowt wrong with being alike, according to Mrs 4ever, if you're alike you know each other's capabilities. Works both on the pitch as well as the training ground. Quicker to "gel" too.
