We didn't even put in an offer for Shaw for a start <doh>
And even if we had, I wouldn't have wanted him for the price United paid.
Footballers shouldn't be bought by the lb, like fruit and veg
Thats the only reason I can see why his fee was so high.

But then I guess when your club is desperate and you don't have a decent manager anymore to run the thing, just throwing money at everything will work eventually....
Even we got a European Cup in the end after a billion quid spend. United are a third of the way towards their next CL win <ok>
Try asking out an uglier girl.

Ahhh the annual pissing contest between United and Liverpool fans.
Pre season just wouldn't be the same without it.

Sure you didnt bid for Shaw. You had no chance of getting him but you were certainly interested.
The only thing that ever linked him to us was that he was a Chelsea fan as a kid.
I think there is a possibility we may have been tempted, but once United put that ******ed bid in, there was no way any other club was going to try trump it.

Shaw is a Chelsea fan. If they wanted him they could have had him for half what Man Utd spent.

That makes perfect sense, Shaw is a Chelsea fan so Southampton would have sold him to them for a lot less money?

I think you need the season to start so you can get back on track

Some of us have started the season <ok>

While others tweet, we get stronger

Southampton would have rejected the smaller offer in favour of the big one of course, and we weren't prepared to pay £30m for a teenager and give him 100k per week or whatever stupid wage he wanted.

If Shaw had the chance to play for Chelsea it doesn't matter how much Man Utd bid if he says he won't sign a contract for them

Well yeah there is that too.
But I suspect, even if he was a Chelsea fan, that if United were offering him double the wage Chelsea were (which is likely), then he would have switched allegiances in a flash.
£30m and 100k per week for what was a 19 year old kid with one and half seasons of first team PL football? He looked decent in that time, but come on. Even Rooney didn't go for that much and he is a striker.

We've won 2 games while your lot are still just tweeting about how they're ready to [HASHTAG]#bethedifference[/HASHTAG] <ok>
Can you do a nice pre-season friendlies graph for us to marvel at? Which player are you going to put on it (and ensure he's sold next summer)?

That's true. It's how Liverpool managed to sign Rickie Lambert when Real, Bayern and PSG were all interested and prepared to pay more for him. Go Rickie.

So Liverpool have started their season by playing sides that would struggle to beat a group of 10 years old in a park.
