That's fine, I'd agree with you, but with that comes a lower transfer budget. It's all well and good thinking lower prices increase gates, they do to some extent, and should be the goal, but they only have a real impact when allied to other initiatives.
Our average attendance was 95% of capacity last season, but unfortunately we no longer have the luxury of Premier League tourists and we should have been looking to compensate for this with our pricing for this season.
So if we sell roughly 12-13000 at 550 quid. To get to 20000 season passes if thats possible what would you want the price to be?
We've sold 11,000 passes at about £550, we're never going to sell 20,000, we could only manage 17,500 in the Premier League. We could easily end up averaging 15-16,000 next season, if pass prices were brought down below £500, allowing matchday prices to be closer to £25, rather than £30, then I think we could potentially add a few thousand to the average gate. Dropping season ticket prices by £50 would cost £5-600k, increasing ticket sales by 3,000 would add another £1.5-2m to the gate receipts, while also improving the matchday experience for everyone. Obviously this process would work far better if it was not just the prices that were adjusted, but the whole approach to the relationship with the fans was also addressed, not pissing the fans off would be a really good idea.
But theres no guarantee, in fact i doubt it would impact it at all, dropping passes 50 quid would increase sales by 3000
The non-renewals will be a combo of the Allam out crowd, the Premier League tourists, and the can't affords. I doubt very much a £50 reduction will be sufficient for the "can't affords" to bring in 3000, so you must be suggesting it's the Allam out crowd who can be bought that easily.
and I'll be doing Bristol City at home as I'll be part of a lads' weekend in 'ull since two of my football crew are Brizzie and they're dying for revenge from 2008 still!! Which hotels are best near the centre?
I didn't say we'd increase pass sales by 3,000, I said we could increase total ticket sales by 3,000. A price reduction would certainly increase ticket sales, the amount might be debatable, but we'd only have to increase them by 1,000 to break even.
