I agree it's all relative, but it's not an either-or situation is it?

No but my point is the government can't just bow down to the majority. If Foxhunting gets banned it's because it's an activity only pursued by a minority, and the majority dislike it. Danish bacon won't get banned because the majority like cheap bacon. The suffering of foxes barely comes into it.

I think it IS the Government's job to bow down to the majority. They make decisions in our name. if the majority want to ban fox hunting, then it should be banned.

That's fine as long as you belong to the majority.

well that's just democracy. if you are in the minority, then you have to accept things don't go your way. I'm a labour supporter, but today i'm in the minority. I can protest (peacefully) against the govt, and try and influence policy or I can sit at home and moan to myself.

Sadly you are correct. I do think though, that most people are against fox hunting because it's barbaric and outdated, rather than because it's a minority interest. If more people were aware of the incessant cruelty and inhumanity shown to all animals in intensive farming systems, more people would either give up eating meat altogether, or at least seek out welfare-friendly alternatives.

On the subject of animal cruelty, why non ban unstunned halal and kosher meat?

Without disrespecting others' religions, I see no reason why rules laid down hundreds and hundreds of years ago can't be updated.

Stuff trying not to disrespecting religion. They disrespect everyone who doesn't believe in the attributes of their chosen invisible friend. Never forget that blasphemy is still on the statute books in the UK: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blasphemy_law_in_the_United_Kingdom

We should disregard all religious opinions when it comes to the law of the land. Religious law is an anachronism (that's for FLT) with no basis whatsoever in reality and should have no influence at all. The very idea that animals in Britain are killed while conscious because of the words of a desert dweller 1,400 years ago would be laughable if it wasn't so tragic.

If you base decisions on the will of the majority you'd have some very odd laws. For example, the death penalty would only have been repealed in March this year. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-32061822 .

Be careful what you wish for.

He smashed it. He has a lead of nearly 3 minutes over Quintana. Richie Porte and Gereint Thomas did really well as well.

I agree...if they can't eat meat produced in that way, they can go vegetarian...not as if they'd starve.

The majority of football fans really don't like Man United.

Froome always looks like he's about to crack with that riding style of his.

Really thought Quintana was going to do him today.

It's like giving up smoking...you have to be strong. You gain nothing by speaking to him. And that includes texting. You are too good for this.
