Sunderland AFC News And Banter Page: 44 mins · Chris Young @YoungSunEcho 1m1 minute ago Wouldn't put much stock in the Lombaerts failed medical rumours. Don't think it's that far on, plus as people have said, he was fine at w/e
Have they. It seems very drawn out. They are in talks, no they are not. They are having Medicals, no they are not. Medical failed, no it is not. Why is it so difficult for SAFC to get the players they want signed?
Rumours and rumours of rumours. Contradiction after contradiction. I`m believing nowt until I see that scarf.
We still haven't agreed a price for lens and Lombaerts isn't at medical stage yet. I think they'll both sign but they're not quite there. Edit: Chris young just said an initial 8m for lens has been agreed so that could be today or tomorrow.
I agree with quinner why is it so difficult for Sunderland to sort out transfers van just pay the bloody money
But you've only got media speculation to go on. How do you know these transfer aren't going right on schedule? Who says they're difficult transfers? Maybe we're driving a hard bargain and controlling the negotiations? It's not the club telling us it's off and on and delayed or what ever it's just media, and in most cases overseas media. Just let the club get it done in it's own time. It's hardly time to panic. Just pay the bloody money? Yeah just tell the world not only were we transfer mugs in the past but we still are so come rip us off as we'll pay anything like a bitch club. Not for me mate. I like that we're so quiet the media can only speculate at the stage of our transfers.
Seem to be a lot of twitchy backsides around here since our friends up the road signed a player the club announced we weren't really interested in for £14 million last week... It is hard when we have had so many disappointments over the past few years but we really need to trust in Conger Eel and Dick. If we still haven't made progress in the market by this time next month then some concern will be more than justified, but for now we need to be patient and let our DOF and coach get on with the job in their own time
Lens will be in this week fella. We've got Lens himself saying he's in talks with us, he want's to come, he want's to work with Dick again and that his family is scared ****less living in the Ukraine. He's been left out of tonights Kiev's squad and on top of that Kiev's managing director has stated the deal is 80% done which tells me price is close to agreement. Lombaerts is less concrete but it has legs. 6m agreed apparently, but he just played 120 minutes cup final on Saturday so the lad needs a few days to recover before flying over. Don't worry fella, Dick wants 4 more, I reckon this time next month these two signings will be well settled and we'll have a few more to boot.
I'm not too concerned about the club not getting loads of signings in early, but I'm not too impressed with how we seem to be handling the Lombaerts and Lens transfers. It's been pretty wide spread in the media for the last week or two that these two are our main targets and it's looking fairly likely that both will sign, so what's the hold up? In the mean time the rest of the squad have flown to America to continue our pre season preparations, surely our 2 main targets would have benefited from being part of this, I just don't see the logic in dragging our feet with these two. I'm not daft and I understand that multi million pound deals aren't made with a quick telephone conversation but surely the club have been negotiating these deals for a matter of weeks now in order to get us a reasonable deal, but surely Congerton should have been aiming to have these two in on time to be on the plane with the rest of the team. It's not the end of the world if these two sign in the next week or two but it is limiting their pre season with us and our chance to gel them into the side before the season
I'm going up to St Andrews for 3 days and expect to see Lens holding up the scarf before I come back. Lomb too would be a real bonus
I've I've heard zilch from the club so I can't understand how exactly they're handling anything in any way at all. The club don't ever say a word about a signing until it's done. They're handling things exactly as I expect
I'm talking about the speed that they operate at mate rather than how they communicate current transfer dealings, I totally agree that club are 100% right to keep quiet until players have signed. However in this case the media seem pretty convinced (and have me convinced) that these are two of our top targets and both are likely to sign, and they've been reporting this for a couple of weeks now, personally I see it as a failure of the club not to get two potentially key first team signings over the line before the pre season trip, it being in the media for as long as it has I'd presume we've been in negotiations for these two for weeks now.
Ignoring the last day of the transfer window shenanigans, I don't think 2-3 weeks to complete a signing is that unusual. It's usually at least a 3-way deal, club-club-player and there are often other factors and agencies involved as well. If this particular deal has fallen through, we still have plenty of time to go elsewhere, which is apparently what we are already doing. We just need to show a little patience, trust the backroom team to do their jobs and hold off on any judgement until the window closes.
