H&G didn't have any real power at the club after April 2010. As part of the agreement with RBS Broughton was brought in onto a 5 man board with Ayre, Hicks, Gillette & Purslow to ensure H&G wouldn't stop a sale. Purslow & Ayre were 'Broughton men' so it was always 3v2 against H&G. That's why they were so furious after the club was sold to FSG because they didn't want the club to be sold for so little.

City and Liverpool went to QPR and said they're not getting anywhere near 20% but they'd make it up to them with offers relating to loans and first refusals

Talking of trolling, Saints Fan 08: Fistian or Matth? No coincidence he suddenly turned up the evening of our jammy win at St Mary's minutes after both had been bemoaning bad refereeing decisions (ironically after earlier trying to justify the refereeing at their game at St James'). Can any mods check the IP's, assuming they're too thick to use proxys?

What I can say is the individual used a blocker.

I dunno who it was and didn't care as their work was so sloppy and obvious.

It should be noted also that on other boards you can just sneeze and get banned. There is no threshold bar a request goes in. I've been trained to tolerate a lot more than I would do if I were a spurs fan for instance.

Crazy money for someone that is far from the finished article. Him leaving could also be a blessing assuming we use the funds appropriately.

If he continues with the bad press and speaking out when things arent going his way, he wont last too long at city.

Now to get a decent striker with the funds...pedro/lacazette or both :)

Ignoring they way he left us and the bad taste in the mouth that remains.

He has the basic talent to be a very good player, but his attitude is wrong, his off field activities are wrong and he has an agent who is a nightmare. I can see him having more clubs than Tiger Woods over his career with a shortish stay at each if he does not dump his agent and sort his life out.

He is not worth £45m at present and is a gamble to some extent for City. They can afford it though so what the hell.

Not a LFC fan so I won't vote, but can't see how this really makes sense.

Firstly Man City are not your direct rivals really. If you are hoping to get into top 4 then United and Arsenal are your biggest obstacles, and Spurs would be the third main rival I would say to you getting into the CL positions. You sold Sterling to City who along with Chelsea have been a fair distance ahead of the rest of the pack the past few seasons (on the whole), plus you add their finances into it and the gap gets even bigger to you guys...

Secondly you got 50m for him. It's not like he left you on a free transfer, you got a whackload of cash (way more than he was worth) so as long as you go and spend that wisely on improving your team I can't see how you can have any complaints.

If he left for a nominal fee to one of your direct rivals then you can have a right moan, but to get 50m and sell him to a team that is in my opinion not really a major rival at this stage is pretty much the best solution you could have hoped for (the only better option would be if he went overseas).

    all true.

however i reckono city are least stable and the club with the biggest potential of having a poor season in top 4. yaya toure could stink the place up next year ala gerard. pelligrini is under pressure and theyve not really improved even with this.

  14. I would have agreed but for his wages; who is going to take him off Man City's hands in a year or two?

This is the thing - £50m is a very good deal if we spend it correctly.

The £75m for Suarez alone should have been enough to create a strong spine in this team, and we ended up spending £25m on a player who isn't better than Coutinho and £20m on a player who isn't better than Sakho.

At least this summer, we've addressed some issues i.e. new right back and quality attacking mid.

  16. I don't agree. ATM, I think Chelsea are the top dogs with Arsenal and then Man Utd just behind. Man City have dropped behind IMO but no doubt they'll make a couple more expensive signings yet.

Nor do we get the £49m. It is £44m plus add-ons so Sterling has to play and achieve something to make it £49m. Plus QPR are entitled to 20% of what we get too. We actually get around £35m for this window (assuming Man City are paying upfront of course)

thats adding an if to a separate item.

the torres deal was an excellent deal. the next deal was carrol which was bad.

you cannot say thay torres deal was bad cos carroll deal was.

this deal for sterling is a good bit over the odds and in a one horse race quite a good achievement.

Same for squarez. not selling him then getting a good year out of it then selling for 75mil was an excellent deal.

lets at least says we've sold well for top dollar. we've not had a guy run a contract down since owen 11 years ago.

He will be a great player for City and add pace to the attacking threat they have from midfield.
