About ten years back me and my mates used to play Wall Ball in the same spot. If you smashed it hard against the wall it would go into an industrial estate which would require Le Tiss esque skills to chip or out. If you blasted it over the 4ft wall it would go onto the beach, sometimes into the sea. This element of risk kept the game controlled. It also meant we lost many balls into the sea.
Just crossed a phone call off my list. I hate phoning companies as you usually get caught up in lots of guff, but had a completely painless call to Sky (which I had been putting off for weeks). Was afraid I would get someone foreign, but she was only Welsh, so I understood nearly every word. I'm getting a new box for FREE....which is great because mine has been playing up and I had been putting off said phone call. And I only have to set it up myself using perfectly clear instructions and enter my internet password and change my card over and verify it with Sky
Went to the IoW for my birthday yesterday. Lovely day topped off with a meal at the Waterside at Totland Bay, West Wight - terrific food indeed. However, what made the visit was a conversation between a visitor and a waitress behind me while I was at the bar. Starts with the guy introducing himself as an old school friend and the waitress finally works out who he is. They catch up and chat for a bit. "What's happened to your sister?" he asks. "Oh she's moved over to Shanklin". she replies. "Why's she gone all the way over there?" he asks. Only on the IoW! Vin
I live in Newport, in the middle of an island 23 miles wide, I might go to Ryde (10 miles away) if I really needed something, but would never go to Shanklin unless it was life or death. When looking for a tradesman, I always look for a Newport man as I assume one won't want to come from Freshwater or Cowes to do a job. If you think the Island is small you will never settle here...I found after a couple of years that it was too much of a *** to go to the next town.
Eh, it's not that different to anywhere else. I went to uni in London and you all spend your first year together in halls and then promise to visit each other the next year. It may even happen to begin with but it never lasts and before long it's "Go south of the river? No chance!"
Whilst out a stag do in Bath yesterday I found a new favourite drink ....Thatchers Haze.....it's a cloudy cider and bloody lovely. I found it in Asda today so having a few whilst watching the tennis and the wife has put a chicken in the oven. Great Sunday will be topped of with Jordy signing later.
Federer not looking great so far, would love to see him win it but Djokovic seemingly the better play so far.
