That pretty much sums it up. Media are desperate for clicks and sales so they'll report any old bollocks to get us interested. And we all fall for it because we're desperate to hear any sort of scrap about a potential transfer to our club. Every summer I tell myself I'm not going to get sucked in, and every summer without fail I get caught up in it
By all accounts he'd prefer to go to Arsenal than United (we'd all prefer him to go to you too). United have offered £20m but as yet haven't come back with a second bid. You guys haven't bid at all, but £25m would secure him. I think he'd be excellent for you and well worth it at the price. I get the impression United are playing the "wait till we're desperate" game, and Van Gaal and Koeman are hardly the best of pals - I wouldn't put it past the man with the face of a melting candle to be trying to disrupt Koeman's plans by holding out. We're keen, as is he, to get things resolved asap.
I genuinely hope he joins us. I think he is a cracking player who would slot seamlessly into Arsenal's team.
Shouldn't we stop talking about Schlinderlin as we aren't going in for him? No point talking about a player that Wenger isn't going after. If he wanted him then we would have put a bid in. Its not like we are lacking funds.
Twitter transfer rumours Tancredi Palmeri says we've made a €45m bid for Higuain Muzzi Ozcan (football agent) says we'll be announcing the signing of the summer in the next few days
The 27 man squad for the Singapore friendlies has been announced, with some exclusions mentioned by Arsene such as Alexis, Ospina, Gnabry and Campbell rested because of involvement in the Copa America, Gold Cup and U21's Championship. Rosicky and Welbeck both have slight injuries. But interestingly no mention of Jenks, and he's not in the squad. So I wonder if that means a loan deal is imminent?
I know, it's one of the things that has always struck me about Sanchez - how lazy he is, he reminds me of Arshavin, the way he just strolls across the pitch...
Reports that we are in for Benzema, though who knows if they are actually true. I did see this article in the Metro http://metro.co.uk/2015/07/09/arsen...ansfer-says-journalist-paco-gonzalez-5288726/ which states that Wenger has been in contact with Real/Benzema, though they quote their source as a Spanish reporter. Strangely though that reporter doesn't mention the scoop anywhere and his newspaper makes no reference to it. I think it's more standard BS from a British paper to be honest (and I held Daily Mail owned papers in such high regard as well...)
Schweinstieger is set to join Man Utd according to Bild. Does this open the door for a bid for Schniederlin for us ?
The rise of the Coq has clearly complicated Wenger's thinking regarding the DM posistion, Coquelin was so good that he basically deserves to be our first choice in that position, the guy was almost flawless, then you also have Cazorla who bossing it from that deep posisiton, those two deserve to start our first game of the season, therefore you can see why Wenger is now reluctant to splash £20 Mil plus on the likes of Schniederlin.
but what if Coq gets injured ? What if we need 2 DM to nullify a team or close a game down ? We need another DM and if Schneiderlin is available lets go get him
Arteta can still play that holding role. Differently to Coquelin as well so they could partner each other there. Then Flamini is still at the club, Wenger has said Chambers will developed into a DM, and Wilshere can play there at a push. Being overstocked in players can be a bad thing too
It's a bad things when they're all substandard in a position yes. Arteta and Flamini are past it, Wilshere is no good at DM, Chambers look rubbish when he played there...
