Wow, hate to sound negative but dam are we thin on goal strikers. We really do need to do something sooner rather than later.
Seeing that list emphasises how much we need to beef up our defence: we have just six defenders, including one pensioner, one kid and one triallist with an unimpressive pedigree.
I still think that Steven Caulker will come good. I know that he wasn't great last season, but the man had an England call up the season before. He's probably shattered of confidence. I'd like to think that not many Championship strikers will threaten him too much. I would like to see us sign a centre back on loan, someone like Nathan Ake or Thomas Kalas.
R's Director of Football updates supporters on transfers and trialists ... QPR's Director of Football Les Ferdinand offers an update Defenders current priority for Chris Ramsey's side Ferdinand provides update on trialists Oscar Goburn and Chris Schorch DIRECTOR of Football, Les Ferdinand, admits he is working ‘around the clock’ in a bid to strengthen the QPR squad. Rangers have already added five new faces to their squad this summer, with the arrivals of Massimo Luongo, Ben Gladwin, Jamie Mackie, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Sebastian Polter, but there is still ‘a lot of work to be done.’ “We know there are still areas of the squad that we need to strengthen and we’re working hard to get deals done,” Ferdinand told www.qpr.co.uk. “We know that we’ll probably lose a few players. “But there’s a lot of good work being done and the scouts did a lot of hard work prior to the summer break in terms of identifying players, so we’re comfortable with the situation. “It’s just a case of trying to get a few deals across the line now.” He added: “Our main focus is on strengthening at the back. We’re well aware that we’re quite light on numbers in that area. “We know what we need to do and what kind of players we want and we’ll continue to work hard to get some sensible deal done as soon as possible.” image: http://www.qpr.co.uk/cms_images/oscar-goburn-61364-2533318.jpg please log in to view this image TRIAL: Oscar Goburn will travel to Italy with QPR this summer Trialists Chris Schorch and Oscar Gobern, who are both free agents, were both named in the R’s travelling party for the pre-season training camp in Italy earlier today and Ferdinand admits the nine day tour will provide him and the R’s backroom staff with an ideal opportunity to assess the pair. “Chris has come in and done okay. He’s got a pretty impressive CV, but he’s still got a little bit of work to do,” said Ferdinand. “Oscar has a lot of talent. He’s come in and done very well. He’s been well up there in terms of the testing and I’ve been really impressed with his attitude and the way he conducts himself. “That’s where we are at the minute. We’re taking a look at a lot of players. “We’ll take a look at them both in more detail, in live game environments, in Italy and then make some decisions.” Read more at http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/q...er-trialists-2533344.aspx#tj3jyIjGX0ioXi12.99
Looking at the approach Les and Chris are taking to this squad assembly is heartening. Sure, it's easy to talk the talk now and we'll have to wait and see what results come with this new approach...but it's nice to see us actually sharking about looking for younger, available, players from lower leagues rather than just thumbing through the classifieds for overpriced old mercenaries that should have been put out to pasture long ago. Viva the sensible approach revolution!
He has played 127 games in 9 seasons. He is either injury prone or unable to establish himself wherever he has been or both.

That's nine teams at 6/1 or shorter. This league is, to say the least, tough, Brentford shorter than us, ffs! 7th is outside of the play-offs.
With all due respect I'll think we'll wait for the expert on Norwich to confirm or deny such details ............. Mr Col ???????????
