24-man squad confirmed for QPR's pre-season training camp in Italy ... QPR head to Italy later today for nine-days Chris Ramsey confirms 24-man travelling first team squad Trialists Oscar Goburn and Chris Schorch part of travelling party Armand Traore to remain in England following injury QPR have named a 24-man squad for their pre-season training camp in Italy, which commences later today. The squad depart from Heathrow this afternoon, ahead of a nine day tour in Stresa, which includes friendly fixtures against Shakhtar Donetsk, AS Monaco and Al Ittihad. The travelling party includes international trio Rob Green, Leroy Fer and Charlie Austin, who all reported back for training earlier this week, as well as summer signings Massimo Luongo, Ben Gladwin, Jamie Mackie, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Sebastian Polter. Young trio Darnell Furlong, Brandon Comley and Reece Grego-Cox are also included. R’s Head Coach Chris Ramsey has also named trialists Chris Schorch and Oscar Gobern in his squad. German defender Schorch is a free agent following his release from MSV Duisburg, as is former Huddersfield Town midfielder Gobern. Armand Traore misses out owing to a minor muscle injury. Director of Football, Les Ferdinand, told www.qpr.co.uk: “It’s a really important trip for us. “Pre-season training camps are always vital and this one will be no different, especially with the vast changes to the squad here over the summer. “It’s a big team bonding opportunity for the lads, especially those new players who have only been here a couple of weeks at the most.” He added: “The games are important in terms of ticking things over. “The standard of the opposition are strong in Italy, but results aren’t the be all and end all. “Of course we’ll be going out to perform and try and win, but there’s too much emphasis put on results at this time of year. “You can only judge teams when the season gets underway – that’s the true test.” #RsInItaly squad ... Gobern is a midfielder who was at Huddersfield for a few years. Can't say I think he's ever looked great but who knows? He's tall and fairly young, Never heard of Schorch but Wiki suggests he's a centre-half who's been playing at a decent level in Germany. Maybe a recommendation from Polter's agent or something. Again he's tall and not old and he's not Stephen Caulker so should be good enough to get in our team.
Schorch is a 26 year old German central defender, spell with Hertha BSC (yippee!), Real Madrid B, Koln and Duisburg. Gobern is a 24 year old midfielder released by Huddersfield. Bushbaby, if you type the names into something called Google on your computer, it magically gives you the answers. Thanks for posting this though! WTF is going on with Donaldson and Manning? We are taking Samba Diakite? This could be very good, or very bad. Traore has a minor muscle injury. Presumably to his brain, which in his case is a very minor muscle indeed.

Not a squad that's going to make other Championship managers lose any sleep over - particularly if Austin, Phillips, Fer are taken out.
The U21's are also going to Italy so the likes of Manning and Harriman will presumably be involved there, quite a few games lined up for them too
Which championship squads should Ramsey be losing sleep over Blind? Genuine question I have a profound ignorance of the Championship, and would like to keep it that way. Hull and Burnley, if they don't lose too many, I suppose.
Derby look to be the team to beat this year with their signings - I would assume they're bookies favourites (I haven't checked so don't hold me to that). Aside from that, Middlesbrough will be tough to beat again, providing Karanka can ensure they don't have a play off hangover. I personally think Wolves will be up there, and everyone will be surprised by Bristol City and Preston.
Nice to see Grego-Cox on the squad list. Ramsey mentioned on Goals On Sunday last season that the kid had half a chance of making it, be great to see if he can demonstrate his obvious ability as a coach and turn him in to a useful player for us.
I'd agree with Derby & Middlesbrough being strong then other teams that were in the mix last year that have settled teams probably be thereabouts again i.e. Wolves, Norwich + 1 or 2 others. Hull & Burnley shoudln't be far off if can maintain the majority of their squads.
