He hasn't tied these laces right at all. The end of the lace that came out of the right hand eye went round the left side of your ankle, through a loop at the back near the top of the boot, round the right side of the ankle, while the lace end that came out of the left hand eye went the opposite way round. When they met at the front again, they were tied. So your lace was double looped around your leg just above the ankle. I'm not sure why - it might have been to stop your foot falling off your leg. Does anyone here remember Charlie 'Cannonball' Fleming? We signed him from East Fife in, I think 1954. This guy could score with a casey from 30+ yards! Boy, could he hit it. I swear if Charlie had ever hit somebody on the head with one of those shots, he could very easily have killed him. I've never seen anybody kick one of those balls like Charlie. The idea of something the weight of a brick travelling at that velocity was frightening.
