Its a point but its hardly likely they would play an 11 v 11 game in training.

We are going to have a smaller squad than we had in the PL. Fact of life.

Pre season will be mainly Small sided games there won't be much need for 11v11 in the first couple of weeks.

The squad does look bare the biggest concern is the amount of character the dressing room has lost too!

Thanks for agreeing with me. <ok>

When older more dominant characters leave it often allows other younger players to blossom.

The important point we're missing here is that Elmo has been listed as a midfielder.

    Fez wins.

In that case, we'll be having the same old conversations when one loan player gets recalled or we get a couple of injuries at the same time. If we're serious about promotion, we can't just rely on not getting any injuries.

From what I understand suspended awaiting the FA decision on his punishment or not.

I have to admit to being a tad surprised at these posts that refer to us being financially stretched and being forced to off-load players and run with a reduced squad. I have lost count of the times owners and manager have publicly declared us well prepared for Championship life; contracts halved, high earners recruited on a pittance (comparably), cloth cut according, etc. I wonder if the level of austerity has taken Bruce by surprise? But, nonetheless, with relegation clause reduced salaries, at least 8 more games to be played (plus early cup rounds), why is the squad being reduced in size (below that allowed)? Anyone enlighten me, as I could have sworn Ehab said we would minimise change to make a determined push on immediate promotion? If we are consolidating then why the hell are we keeping Bruce, or is that one wearing a tad thin now? (Relationship, not girth)

We did have quite a big squad it has to said. I don't have any problem with thining the squad as long as we have sufficient quality.

On a side note, if the strikers don't all leave I'd be surprised to see how they did next year.

I might be wrong as I am on the phone and can't be arsed to check, but I thought we worked with the same regulation size squad as everyone else; won't we do that to whatever the squad size is in the Championship? If we keep our strikers they should make hay, but we won't and they won't.

If you believe Assem, the only reason we went down as injuries, yet the squad needs thinning even further?

Last time we almost ****ed it up by relying on loan players. Elmo, Stockdale and Meyler both got recalled by their parent clubs who were just trying to mess about with us, and we struggled badly to replace either of them. Aluko getting injured was far more of a big deal than it should have been.

I know we're short on players but I don't think these new trialists will cut it in the championship, far too static

Conor Townsend officially has the worst haircut in the squad. That's ****ing atrocious, even for a footballer.
