Levy's a hard ass, everyone knows that. In the lean years, when you were recouping the cost of your stadium, Levy would have found you top players by selling off the dead wood (and getting top dollar for them), but unlike for us, you would have paid the salaries to keep those players. Had he found the likes of RDV, Berbatov and Modric for you, I'm fairly certain that you would have kept them. Bale, even, since he, like the other great players, would have been playing in the CL on a regular basis. And he would have found you other great players, too, players that we can't get because we won't pay the wages. You Gooners would have been in hog-heaven under Levy. You would have outshone the Chavs, year in and year out, as well as both Manchester clubs. You would probably have named a stand after him, or erected a statue. I could go on, but that - if I were taking the "for" side of this debate - is the argument, in a nutshell.
Apart from that being utter bollocks of course. Levy only got top dollar for the players he lucked out on like Modric, Betbatov and Bale. He's shifted on your own deadwood for a loss. You've just sold capoue for a loss and rumours are that you're about to take a £15m hit on selling Soldado ! Lord only knows what sort of loss he'll make on Lamela ! Add to that the amount of managers he's hired and fired and the utter dross he's bought with the money from player sales and levy would have had Arsenal sinking like a stone. As I've said, with Levy at Arsenal, it might have been the only way that Spurs could have finished above us in the last two decades
Oh, I have little doubt that Levy would have got rid of Wenger before now. As Jose said, to go without anything to show in 8 straight seasons is "specializing in failure." Levy would have brought in Jose, probably. Hog-heaven, you Gooner lads would have been in.
HIAG writes these threads to get attention. I think he suffers from ADHD. I try to go easy on him because it's not fair to mock the afflicted and if he genuinely suffers from a disorder. I wouldn't want to be seen to be taking the piss out of it. HIAG seems to enjoy being made a fool of though, so I string him along. But I try to be aware that he is prone to having hissy fits.
PISKIE, BL tells us that he's been a silent observer of this forum for some while, so I expect that he's already made his mind up as to where you sit on the wum-scale of "ownings" on this site.
He's worked wonders with our club. If we had your ability to pay the kinds of wages that you pay, there would be no talk of the infamous "Power-Shift" - there would be no need to, since it would have happened a very long time ago.
