    No..
a regular pentagon has 5 equal sides

an irregular one has 5 sides different length.

But any 5 sides shape would be known as a pentagon

Technically no such thing as a 'pentagon'

its either a regular pentagon or an irregular pentagon.

So so we were either both wrong or both right...

Would it ruin the conversation if I said that I count 6 sides?

Yes but if it is regular you do not need to prefix it with regular <whistle>

Definition of a pentagon is a figure with 5 straight sides and 5 angles.. So technically an irregular pentagon is still a pentagon under oed definition.

    So im right <ok>

You misunderstand biscuit. If you refer to a pentagon, immediately the regular shape comes to mind, no need to say "regular", but you need to differentiate when talkiing about an irregular one. It's more efficient, one less word.
