We haven't spunked it away though, that's the point. We've paid our wages congruent with our revenue streams and the level of football (champions league) we've been playing. You admitted yourself that Spurs have to offer ridiculous amounts of money up front and even then those players rarely stay. If there's any evidence of spunking away cash, it's right there at WHL
But that clearly isn't the case, is it, PISKIE, as has been demonstrated to you. Levy has bought players with the revenue of players that he's sold. So, our business model allows us to act the way we do, just as does yours. You cannot claim that we have a bad model if you don't concede that you, also, have a bad one. Conversely, if you are going to take any plaudits for the way that AFC conduct its business, then you have to give credit for the way that Levy does his.
I didn't say Spurs have a bad business model. I said you are ****ing woeful at buying players. You might luck out and sell players like Bale, Modric and possibly Kane for top money, but the players that it is reinvested in are shocking. As I've said, on transfer spending alone, Spurs are right up there with Man Utd since the PL began. Arsenal (whilst we spend more on wages now) are way below you in terms of transfers spent. Compare the relative success since the PL began between Arsenal, Man Utd and Spurs and it will tell you how well that money has been spent.
If we've failed miserably, then what does that say about Spurs ? Won less, finished below us every season and don't even qualify for the CL
Can I ask what trophies have Spurs won in last 2 seasons ? or what trophies have Spurs won in last 5 or 10 seasons ? If you are equating success to spend, then Spurs have spent a vast amount of money to win nothing !
I would go further than that and say that they are going backwards. After they won the League pot, they started to build a decent team under Harry and even managed to qualify for the CL just the once. Since then they have spent big on transfers and never even had a sniff of CL football or a glimpse of silverware since.
Also, you know when the Spuds are desperately clutching at straws when all they have is a wage bill to try and wum us with (even though it's completely congruent with our income and footballing status) Watch out, they'll be wheeling Henry Norris out next
So what? When did I even vaguely suggest that Spurs are the only competently run club? When did I even say that Spurs are competently run? When did I claim that Arsenal's spending wasn't justified? That's a delightful strawman that you've created, but you can't even knock it down. Arsenal spend vastly more than most of the teams in the league and they should be challenging regularly for the title and the Champions League. Your repeated failure to reply to this point simply shows that you know it's true. Wenger hasn't done as well as he should've done with the finances available to him. Repeating a load of balls doesn't make it any more true. You've vastly outspent us and barely stayed ahead of us, yet you hail it as a massive success. It's embarrassing.
Our books are balanced, as always. Yes, a good part of the money we received for Bale was spent injuduciously, but it was not net spend. In terms of your net spend, you've achieved very little. In short, you far, far outspend us, and finish barely above us in most seasons.
You'd give your eye teeth to be in the Champions League, that's why your chairman fritters away so much cash on transfers trying and failing to achieve it
It's true to say that our chairman would love to be in the C.L, as would we. But give his eye teeth? No, I don't think so - not even close! Whether we like it or not, Levy will keep the finances under control.
