Just like to wish them all the very best for tomorrow, hope it's a resounding NO, but whatever happens, I shall be giving my support while out in Crete, so do behave on here in my absence, though I will be keeping an eye on things from my office in Georgioupolis, Chania.

kalinihta to all, and may the Retsina flow freely..............<cheers>

PS: Anyone seen 'Pete from Crete'?

Phil, what will this mean for travel in Greece or the Islands. Will they still be able to sustain the number of tourist going there or will they start to run out of things.

If the no vote wins as it looks likely to and Greece exit the EU im sure they will survive and recover in time, the people there will have to raise their game but having great shipping and ports, and a great tourism industry im sure us Brits and others will increase holidaying there apart from probably being cheaper but to give support from the ordinary man ?
Greece has other resources and an small agricultural base etc so should`nt starve and will be free to trade anywhere it wants perhaps attracting inward investment in manufacturing from China and other countries ?
Iceland are doing ok since they left albeit not exiting with such large debts but none the less there is life outside the EU superstates new world order building !

What else does Greece also have going for it outside the grip of Merkels EU ?

There doesn't seem to be much issue here in Crete, think the tourist will be fine, regarding the referendum, it seems those with money want a yes result, while the poor want the No vote..... <ok>

Perhaps they could re-nationalise all the assets that have been stripped from them in the last few years.

How important is the Greek veto on Turkey joining the EU and how will it affect keeping them out if they leave ?
