A couple of ew dabbles today. Aussie Reigns @ 9s in the Esher Stakes at Sandown. Ran well in his first try at this trip lto finishing 3rd in a Group 3. Should be competitive in this lesser race and trainer in blinding form. Over at Bellewstown Flycorn @ 14s in the 6.25. A year and a half off the track to overcome but was previously decent finishing 4th in a novices hurdle at Aintree (won by Simonsig). Could be a blowout but also could take advantage of a very low mark further reduced by his jockey's claim. Good luck all.
That PoW Stakes looks like very strong form to me. Free Eagle may just be the best horse in Europe right now, and Grey Gatsby was only a shd behind him at Ascot. With Jamie Spencer on board, what can go wrong?
Think Basem is a good bet today! Won a little cheekily last time out and 5lb shouldn't stop him going in again
I think that this years Derby was a vintage renewal, with the first 2 being the best 2 horses in Europe. So as much as I like The Grey Gatsby, who was very unlucky at Ascot, I think Golden Horn will win quite stylishly. I wouldn't bet at those odds, but il be quite dissapointed if he doesn't hold up the Derby form
Didnt see anything that was that great about todays racing so for an interest: Sandown 125 Use your filbert 200 Waady 310 Black Cherry Haydock 145 Hakka 250 Watersmeet 325 Rahmah Beverley 150 Mistymoistymorning 335 Atlantic Affair 445 Casila Leicester 315 Intimation 425 Fine View 535 Candlelight 3 singles 3 doubles and a treble at each meeting! Argentina -1, -2 & -3 versus Chile this evening! Its gonna be Messi!!!
Although I think it is a terrible shame that the first Group 1 all age race attracts such a poor turn out and is clearly not a betting race unless you have a larger betting bank than most, it is still however interesting as The Grey Gatsby is a good yard stick as he usually runs his race. He is clearly not a great horse as his form reads only one win in his last five, what he can do however is push decent horses to perform and so it will be interesting to see how easily Golden Hawn can deal with him. Will it be a 5 length barely pushed out? or a hard fought half a length? It would need be at least something in between to support the idea that Golden Hawn is potentially top drawer.
I'd be prepared to back The Grey Gatsby if Ryan Moore was riding not Jamie Spencer! Motivator has a similar profile to Golden Horn in that he won the Dante and Derby in 2005, then ran in the Eclipse with an unbeaten record. I think Golden Horn is a better horse but not prepared to back him today.
Spencer was on ATR stating how straight forward a horse The Great Gatsby is, god only knows how Spencer will ride. Therefore cannot possibly be included in any bets for me!
Afternoon all, arrows for today are: 2.00 San WAADY 2.35 San BASAM 4.20 San HAVANA BEAT 3.25 Hay BAPAK ASMARA NAP 5.10 Hay ENLACE Over at Beverley must go for those drawn low in these 5f sprints, so a double and treble on the following: 2.25 KOOTHRAPPALI 3.00 PEA SHOOTER 4.10 SNAPPY GUEST Good luck all.
Waady shows how talented he is, despite being a complete nutter. If Gosden can sort out his temperament then they have a G1 sprinter on there hands. A lot of trouble in running for both Waady and even more so the 2nd Wind Fire who went for a gap that wasn't there. They really could do with a false rail at Sandown, as it seems like your guarenteed to get boxed in if drawn low unless you make the running. I still think the most talented horse won the race though
I think it will pay slightly odds on Oddy, as they take into account how many runners there are, and the price difference between the 2nd and 3rd favourite. 2/1 would be a great bet, but you won't get that
Spark Plug looks to be the main danger to Basem in the 2.35 at Sandown. Basem is a full brother to Farhh who won the Lockinge and Champion Stakes in 2013. One of four C&D winners in the field.
