If he'd used the paper <whistle>

lucaaas actually posted his opinions last time i had a paper not facts.

I agree its a good format. If we get to see next time how the zombies work out that would be fun. they might or might not be too powerful. i dont know as i don't have experience of such a set up in end game at all.

I had no idea how much the Zombie element could effect the game tbh, If we do this format again I'll be paying much more attention to that element.

I think it would work well if hidden tasks. My problem with hidden tasks in the last game was, part of the rules were specific to who had what hidden tasks and another part said keep an open mind. I took this as keep an open mind as to what the hidden tasks could be, not how many, as it clearly stated in the rules how many hidden actions each team had. Next thing there's hidden actions left right and center. So with hidden actions I want to know how many there is and the secret being what the tasks actually are, as it made too much of the game blind guessing for me.

Right, caught up again.

Great game Swarbs. Thanks for putting the effort in.

Format, for me, was better than previous game but might help with relaxing roles between teams, when 1 dies (possible swap) and having possibly 1 extra power to acquire on tasks for each team.

Also, totally refute that Town win was down to luck or bad play by Mafia, and was simply down to brilliant play and upholding the values of decency.

:1980_boogie_down:

What? Valley? Okay it was just luck.

<sorry>

I perfer the open game plan. I do agree ok forcing someone to do something to get a bonus is a bit of fun but the last one has too many tricks and bonuses on one side.

all i can say is as the detective then i could earn absolutely nothing and got no extra stuff while the mafia got shedloads

but anyway thats just me it was still a fine run game that was really good for those in it.

in this game you could see ok, there was only one thing that swarbs needed to fix. thats pretty darned good for a first time run. the sequence of event we saw meant i know we had a mafia with no bullets so i could say what i liked as long as lucaas got lynched. nobody would shoot me. if the sequence had been valley lives and steals i would have had to figure out how to get lucaaas knowing he knoew who i was now.

that would be an entirely different day 3 dynamic.

Agreed, As mafia I was surprised that the most powerful Mafia player was the Theif followed by Hitman and then the Mafia Don the weakest player. Tweeking needed in that area.

There needs to be a balance between powers floating and being fixed

The don should be able to do all the powers, but only 1 per night. The other roles can only do their own power. A power can only be used by one person per night. So it's better for a hitman to do a hit to keep the don protected, but the don can do it himself if the hitman dies.

So the don is most powerful, but tries to remain hidden by using his specialists to do his work instead.

Maybe you just didn't read the rules well enough last time <whistle>

Yeah its a hard on that.

I tried that before and gave up on it. I started just giving the mafia one power per night and let them figure out what to do together as it solved a lot of basic issues of attendance and one kill ending games

this one had 19 player in which is a lot so the mafia had more powers this time than any of my games bar the kill fest.

a don could be considered the old guy and have a power of showing up as innocent when investigated which always causes fun. he could have the money assigned to him as well as recruit.

I think swarbs was wise in almost forcing the mafias hand in recruiting early. Every thing i've read in this game is a mafia should recruit asap in the game to get as many numbers i nthe team as possible rather than wait.

@Gerrez as the don if you had the steal power and recruit would you simply have sat there stealing cahsh and not recruit?

perhaps.

Perhaps i was a bitch.. perhaps i just didn't want to play that weekend. perhaps the wife was looking at me angrily. i don';t know... I just wanted out once valley outed me and there was 3 separate things that were off

I agree though, having some hidden rules is fun and allows some interesting blagging from people, but being quite specific about how many hidden rules are at play or which roles have hidden rules might be a better way to go. The problem with the last game was mainly that the investigative roles got killed quickly or revealed themselves and allowed the mafia to play and confuse the town (cough valley cough). But it was intentionally a bit of a head **** game.

I quite like this setup, but I'm still not sure how the zombies will go in future, worth running it again to see how it plays out.

Seemed like Biscan and I inherited you luck when you tried to recruit us too <laugh>

The only choice I made was to infect Tobes which worked perfectly.... Until someone went and shot him the next morning in the face so he died completely without becoming zombie.

Lucas then ended both our hopes when he attacked me as was no chance he would win from then and no chance I could form being regular zombie.

I nearly got you lynched which would have made you a zombie as well though which would have been perfect because you'd had been a zombie with mafia knowledge!

I think if its stated the rules are semi open thats what it is. its just to expect balance in it.

I did not have anyhting hidden i think? that right AFC. I had nothing i could earn or do while the mafia had 3 different things going on.. and valley saying exactly what he was going to do allowed them to exploit but they had already eon one hidden power and people read rules and well thats it then what is it they did but then a second happened and then a third.

In any event i learned from doing it as i don't like being a biatch and it helped in this game.... I think i counted 12 times i actually stopped myself giving stuff away or replying needlessly to the board rather than letting two people get on with it.

yup.

Why choose tobes though... likely to be lynched?

were you trying to assemble a group of votes first?

did you think about choosing one of the lynchees on day one. the group of 3?

That's right you didn't have any hidden bits for your role, but mafia were able to gain some extra stuff. It was mainly a couple of extra kills though since they only started with two kills. I wanted to try some interesting ways of having false investigator results, so gave the mafia a couple of ways to misdirect the town, and I tried to counter it with several investigative roles so there was potentially multiple bits of info to piece together and figure out the incorrect bits. But instead the main investigator died night one along with the doctor and valley revealed himself and announced his actions to the town. With the abilities the mafia had that made it really easy for them to direct the town. Could of gone really differently given the unpredictable nature of several things I put in, but I was pleased that it almost ended as 1 vs 1 vs 1 - that's gotta be considered a balanced game ;)

I wanted Tobes to be lynched, he'd then become a zombie.

Couldnt chose 1 of the 3 as the lynch came first so if the 1 I chose was lynched he'd be dead become I could bite... And I can only beat alive people

Would be cool to have roles like a mafia associate, where he starts off as an associate but if he performs a certain task, he gets "made" by the Don and the mafia team get a boon, like increased income for buying bullets and hacking.

May some just didn't like your format <whistle>

Maybe some didn't give it a proper go and could of helped the town out much earlier if they weren't throwing a hissy fit about the format (which was made out to be far more complicated than it was by mafia e.g. Nev who well and truly pulled the wool over the towns eyes!) <whistle>

I wanted to bite some of the active posters that were likely to be killed off as well as people I thought would be useful.

Tobes es is pretty with it so would be handy, gerrez I was sure was mafia so infected him would give me info on who the mafia are and any more info they had as well...

thought a a team of Tobes, gerrez and I would be pretty strong in game terms as well having worked with gerrez when mafia when we won <ok>

ahhhh yes of course. that makes sense!

why did i not think of that when wondering who might be bitten.

so that is an interesting one to file <whistle>
