If ched evans is who we're relying on to fire us to promotion we may as well have just given this £12m spent so far to charity!
And then there is this on BCFC: http://www.bcfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10327~2392091,00.html Nicky Maynard has spoken for the first time since the club rejected three transfer bids for him, insisting he hopes to get something sorted "sooner rather than later" with regards to his contract. The striker has just one year left of his current City deal going into the 2011/12 campaign, and already the club has knocked back three offers from another npower Championship club for his services. Talks remain ongoing between City and Nicky's agent, and while the forward insists any off-field matters won't affect his game in any way, he would like to get something sorted as soon as possible. Nicky Maynard Speaking exclusively on Player, Nicky said: "It's just good to be back and enjoying pre-season because I didn't even make the tour last year. "Whatever else happens, happens. I'm happy here playing football and long may it continue. "My agent's been in talks with (chairman) Colin Sexstone and (vice chairman) Keith Dawe. Hopefully something will get sorted out sooner rather than later. "I want what's best for the club and the best for me as well. The sooner it's done the better it will be for both parties." Which only says he is happy to be playing football and hopes his future is sorted soon.
'Whatever happens, happens' - not 'I'm staying, that's what's gonna happen'. Probably trying to get a better contract but you never know.
tbh I think we have got a good enough squad as it is with the exception of a LM. We need to trim the numbers though, sell the dead wood & send some players out on loan, but we´re looking good enough.
Rob Tanner has said we are still after Maynard. What Maynard said was nothing. He didnt commit to them nor did he say he wants out. I think he wants to best deal going i think if we get a bid accepted he will sign for us
This is turning into an obsession...i bet if we do sign him, he turns out to be shight...........there are plenty of better strikers we can actually get...fact.....he doesn't appear to have any ambition...re: CMS.... so, in the name of god....can we move on....
"I want what's best for the club and the best for me as well. The sooner it's done the better it will be for both parties." am i the only one who thinks that sounds like he's off?!
Sounds like he's in it for the money. He must have an idea what LCFC would offer him a week. If BCFC match that I think he'll stay. If they don't I think he'll talk to us and any other sucker that fishes around
That statement pretty much says "Give me a much bigger contract or let me go, stop stretching this out by playing hardball on my new contract"
Lets add some more fuel to the fire shall we: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...cester-back-and-fourth-for-Nicky-Maynard.html
http://www.thisisleicestershire.co....icky-Maynard/story-12940932-detail/story.html We are still after Maynard. I am just waiting to see Bristol statement saying they have reluctantly accepted our bid for Maynard. Its just a matter of time
I hope you're right but I just can't see it happening. I have a terrible feeling we're going to settle for Ched Evans. If we got him I'm sure there wouldn't be people saying £6m for Maynard is too much. Then again what was he saying about his injury, something about he couldn't train properly yet? That doesn't sound good. We are strong in every other area but we are lacking a key part of the jigsaw in a striker.
I hear this morning that Sven may have been hacked in the past when England manager, could make for some interesting TV if he is invited to the Commons Committee....... Sven knows Evans from his time at Man City. Although Evans hasn't done well at Sheff Utd, I do recall great things being said about him 3 or 4 years ago. Sven must know whether he's got something.
My advice is just be honest and tell Nicky how you feel then leicester_ed. The worst that can happen is he says no...there plenty more fish in the sea!
