RHC... you've never seen the wire? **** get a boxset immediately. 14.99 for season 1 on amazon or 48.90 for the lot
I've only seen the first episode of The Wire. It's on my to watch list but I'm not a big detective programme fan
well... ok theres a bit of detectives but then theres a lot of the opposite side going on with it. the mayor stuff and the docks and different cartels etc. the detective part is a big part of course. it does straddle a lot of worlds.... the fun thing is also it is quite dated in terms of tech and its funny to look at them. it makes a change from the csi superhero stuff.
Sadly S2 of True Detective is formulaic, cliched ****e. Can't be bothered with any more. It's ditched everything that was good about the first one... that sloooooooooooow burn. Not that it should be exactly the same, it could have still been unique in the new location, but no the network have let them have their fun, they got the performance of a lifetime out of Mahogany and it's ****ed now. And Vince Vaughan is one-note crapola, Farrell not much better.
Just back from Jurassic World. Got in free at Bolton cineworld as the unlimited sign up machine wasnt working too. Good film, better that the last two but the first was the best.
it's **** until the helicopter crash then it gets alright purely cos you get to see idiot americans getting picked up and dropped from height by pterodactyls. but leaving all that stuff aside it's still extremely underwhelming. It's a shame cos the franchise could be really good if they had people with more than a few brain cells working on it. Film is just too compromised by the various people who've messed with the script, the characters are virtually non-existent, the plot has more holes than a sieve and the only thing really going for it are a few action set pieces and the cgi that are ultimately irrelevant. Good job you didn't pay decent money for that **** though
Watched about 6 episodes online. Seems to be called american odyssey for the folks across the pond. Pretty decent show to be fair and reminds me of a strikeback/homeland crossover. Believe there are 13 episodes.
Not as much as season 1, by ep2 of season 1 I already had it classified as one of the best shows ever. However, I am not sure I would say it is cliched ****e. They have gone out of their way to make this season pretty dark, which, when you consider Mohagony's character in season 1, takes some beating. We have Rachel McAdams, who insists on being ****ed anally by men (at least thats what i got from her first scene), and has extreme intimacy and commitment issues stemming from paternal abandonment. Taylor Kitsch, a closeted homosexual who need a viagra to bang one of the hottest women I have ever seem (), he is definitely gay (the remark about the "***" he almost punched out in the bank, him viewing the group of gay pride folk with a look of hate), and he was obviously sexually abused by his mother, she was far too hands on with him, maybe her or one or more of her boyfriends at a push. Then there is Colin Farrell (He isn't dead btw, was rubber bullets, there was no blood and I have seen scenes with him in in trailers that havent been in the show yet), whose son is blatantly not his, but the result of his wife being raped, which ****ed him up completely, he is trying bless him, but has extreme problems facing reality, and likes to think he stands up for weak people and administers justice, when he has become little more than the oppressor, subconsciously becoming the very thing he despises, which he recognises and causes him to loath himself even more. His "son" is the one justification for his actions, the fact that, in his mind, if he treats this kid like his own son, then he is somehow better than everyone else. And also the line about E-cigs "It was a little too close to sucking a robots dick" was one of the funniest things I had heard in a while. These characters definitely intrigue me and make we want to see more, more so than the plot does.
I'm with Bod on this one. Whilst definitely not as good as S1, still good and worth watching. Also lets not mention that there has only been 2 episodes . Shouldn't be writing if off after such as short period and which are obviously going to be setup. I've heard that Ep3 is where the series is really supposed to get going. Lets also not forget that S1 took its time getting going and nobody really had a clue what was going on until about the 3rd or 4th episode and it was only due to the fact that Mcconaughey had alot of screen time to himself that kept you intrigued.
Its good, very good to start with anyway. Slows down a little to much and seems to run out of time at the end. 3rd best film of the franchise. If you are expecting a survival thriller then you will be disappointed. Its an all out action film, especially the first part.
