Many sayings and beliefs in football are total crap. We all know of popular opinions about players clubs and other football matters that make absolutely no sense yet are believed by many as being gospel. What football belief(s) do you believe to be untrue ? As always I will keep my own opinions to myself as they will most certainly be met with a personal attack.
"Steve Gerrard, Gerrard, He slipped on his ****ing arse..." No he didn't. He slipped onto his knees. They're very different body parts.
You can't turn brother against brother, Tiz. Football isn't life and death, despite what Shankley said (the red Mousers are so stupid that they didn't realise that Shankley was actually taking the piss).
Luck evens itself out over the season. Bollocks!! It's a well known fact the top teams get more go their way...in general. But Mourinho would disagree with that last season no doubt...
'Away goals are a fair way to decide a two leg tie' Get to **** are they ! Both teams play home and away that's the fair part. After that it should be ET and Pens.
I hate all the cliche' that players and managers and pundits use: "it's a game of 2 halves". No **** Sherlock "at the end of the day". is the evening! "the best team lost". they weren't then were they! as to myths: I have been watching since the early 1960's and it is a myth that it was better in the old days. Truth is that there were loads of **** pitches, plenty of really **** grounds with **** all facilities, all teams had Hard Men whose sole job was to hack down anyone with talent, and the football coverage was Match of the Day in black & white FFS !!!!
Teams that play in a certain way. For instance the fans arbitrarily decide that their club should play in a certain stly, then the board hire a manager who doesn't conform to that iodea so the fans kick off. Regardless of how well he might be and at the detriment to their club. The (insert name of certain clubs (whom I am deliberately leaving out)) way, is usually based of f' all.
If you like a lot of chocolate on your biscuit join our club. That is true though Molby, Ruddock, Sammy Lee, Barnes, Nicol - to name a few - all signed for Liverpool..
