I have just watched the race and as someone without a bet in the race my opinion would be that Ryan Moore rode an acceptable race and was a bit unlucky that he did not have a clear run ahead of him which the winner had and so took longer to hit full stride. The shocker was actually from Frankie on Ribbons. If you watch after the start he takes a deliberate pull on the horse and consents to give the lead horses around 8 lengths head start and greater chance of beating him after only one furlong, for no reason whatsoever. so confident was Frankie that he decided he could give 12lb and 8 lengths head start and still win this race. He then travels at the same pace as the leaders and when the race for home starts has to make up the distance he gifted them at the beginning. He fails by a small margin. Now that is poor race riding -what did he think he gained by giving them 8 -10 lengths until the 2 furlong out pole, if he intended travel at the same pace as them between furlong 2 and 8 what was his gain. Ryan moore was only around 3 lengths of the pace but gained cover. Heffernon great ride Moore acceptable Dettori very poor All opinions of course.
Not sure Uncle..should be available to download on the old bbci player though. Gutting to see The Who totally bomb...I was just born in the very late 60's when they were in their pomp but have always liked them.
Fair critique Blue but Ribbons was flat to the boards a long way out and was outpaced. I know this isn't going to go down well but her proximity to the front two on that ground devalues the form imeo.[/QUOTE]
Yes just watched the who and recorded on tevo so should be able to get the whole pragram when I get 5
The Who bombed? Did they? Not from where I was watching. I also saw them at Hyde Park on Friday and they were fantastic.
I would agree that the proximity of Ribbons does devalue the form a little Dex - from all existing evidence the fillies are poor this year as we must also add in that Qualify was very easily brushed aside in the Irish Derby so the Guineas and Oaks winners were both beaten in there next races as was the Irish Guineas winner. My take on it so far A very exciting and potentially great Miler in Gleneagles but little behind him. Two very good looking middle distance colts in Golden Hawn and Jack Dexter but next to zero behind them. No fillies of any note One very exciting sprinter in Muhaarar (this one could win everything he goes for )
