1. Sergio Busquests is better than Cristiano Ronaldo (putting him as the 2nd best player in the world) and should have won a Ballon D'or 2. The homegrown rule should be disassembled and this fascination (and subsequent disappointment) regarding England and 'English DNA' should be forgotten - the EPL is for our entertainment and we should welcome as many talented footballers from all over the globe as possible 3. Raheem Sterling is a brilliant player who will go on to become world class
Goal frames should be made 6 inches wider and 4 inches higher in order to guarantee Pelle the Golden Boot next season. We have a really tall goalie so we'll be ok. Points should be deducted from the team who's player is proved to have been guilty of simulation. The average IQ of fans in the Chapel is, on average, around 10 points higher than in the other stands.
On the first point, I'd go further. Goals should only count if the woodwork is struck and the ball rebounds out. This rule shall be applied retrospectively to apply to last season, which means that Saints won the league and Pellè was highest scorer.
I'm going to go for another 3 and risk the wrath of archers calling me a mug again 1) Man Utd won't win another title under LVG 2) An epl won't win a champions league title for the next 3 years 3) We will break into the top 4 within 5 seasons
1. Agreed 2. Agreed 3. Does IQ rise while asleep? My three: 1. The Northam is the only part of any ground that regularly makes sufficient noise to require ear protectors 2. Those who insist on singing anti-Pompey fans need to get a life 3. Matt Le Tiss was over-rated and successive England managers got it right.
I couldn't even bring myself to find words to reply! I think Lambo has pushed the boundaries of controversy into the next universe
I bloody hope so. Cyril Burt, who argued for intelligence being inherited, hypothesised that the reason the sons of judges became judges was their superior intellect - and the evidence was that it happened. So by the same logic, the fact that Le Tiss was rarely selected for England shows he wasn't good enough. You do need to understand that I think Burt was a prat!
Intelligence, like any other characteristic, is inherited...though also aided by increased opportunity if your parents are successful. Doesn't mean that people at lower social levels can't be intelligent or that people higher up the tree can't be thick...it's just the matter of average. In a mobile society, the bright move up anyway...don't stay down for long. One factor is thought to be the quality of the placenta and the oxygen it supplies to the foetus...leading to the suggestion that intelligence is mainly inherited down the female line. I have noted (and it is an observation only based on a few couples) that self-made men don't seem to have kids as bright as they are...though that may be down to spoiling them.
I was a bit acerbic last time, sorry bout that. Though I actually said you weren't a complete mug. Not much controversy with these 3 btw. 1 and 2 are fifty/fifty calls and as for 3, well who'd want to piss on your optimism?
Absolutely no doubt that those at the top have more opportunities and are not necessarily the best, but I was talking about IQ (which is difficult to assess as there are different sorts of intelligence). I benefitted from a grammar school education....I hated school and skived off for most of my final year at junior school (sorry, Mum)...but was rescued from misery and probably depression by passing my 11+. The loss of grammar schools led to growth in private schools (which my parents could never have afforded) and was a massive disservice to intelligent children of working class parents. The 11+ saved me.
Yep, the upper classes were able to pull up the drawbridge when the grammer* schools closed. *oops, grammar. Should have paid more attention at school.
Apparently the stone masons spelt grammar with an 'e' on the façade of my old school (Northern Grammar in Portsmouth) and had to redo it.
1. Harry Kane is the new Michael Ricketts 2. Fonte is massively over rated 3. Saints are much closer to teams like Swansea/West Ham than they are to Spurs or Liverpool
Peering into this thread, and on one page I read that "Le Tiss was overrated" and "Fonte is overrated". Aaannd... that's me out, I was always taught if you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all.
