c111 - we agree about Secretariat plus the racing colours were not far from the 'Blau Weiss' of Bavaria!

B74 - surreal? My favourite is Sainsbury's Wholegrain Apricot Wheats!!

About to visit my mum in the 'cuckoo's nest'.

    Bye for now 'my darlins'.

What utter bollocks some of you talk <laugh>

    And I've missed it :)

Not as regular here just recently as my domestic arrangements have changed a tad, but it's good to see that pointless topics are still being posted <laugh>

Arkle WAS supreme, and those of us around at the time know it. If Ron's love affair with Flying Bolt hadn't tainted his view, he would know it too :D
It was FB being kept away from Arkle, not the other way round!

And as for Charlie Drake being superior to Harry Worth ..... piffle! Harry was a bit one dimensional admittedly, but very funny with it. CD was pure slapstick - depends on what floats your boat :)

Incidentally, if you DID like Harry Worth - try to catch up with a BBC series called Count Arthur Strong. Steve Delaney, who plays the title character is utterly brilliant, but it is very, very reminiscent of Harry Worth. Try it - you won't regret it (2 series so far)

Yes I've caught CAS and found a quick visit to the local clinic sorts it, sorry I meant I enjoyed it.

Did you know that when Arthur Lowe was approached to play Mainwearing he said he'd do it as long as he didn't have to be anything like Harry Worth. Having said that I quite enjoyed HW, but Steve Delaney is funnier (apparently brilliant live).

Hi Reebs. I haven't had a love affair with Flyingbolt; wasn't even a fan to be honest. He did have a piece of form that made him superior to Arkle though. Have a look at this humorous thread from 2012. SA didn't object to the fact that Flyingbolt was the superior <laugh>. What happened to Galaxy btw?

Now there's an idea, Reebok, let the powers-to-be create an "Utter Bollocks" thread, and nonsense threads like this could be immediately transferred to it?

No contest. Arkle by a distance. Frankel ran mostly over 1m beating the same few average horses. Had Frankel been tested more then maybe but he was kept relatively unexposed. He didn't run in the Derby, he didn't run in the Arc, he didn't go to the Breeders Cup. Frankel vs Wise Dan would have been a race worth watching in the Breeders Cup Mile.

Frankel was a great miler but for me the best horses are the ones who can step up and down in distances like Kauto Star and Sea The Stars.

Sorry can't agree with that. The most overrated meeting in the world by a long stretch in Chumpions Day at Ascot. Most of the Chumpions Series leaders haven't even run at the meeting.

How about a rule that no racehorse can become a sire before age 5 to encourage leaving horses in training.

What a race Kingman vs Gleneagles would have been this year.

......an increase in "coltishness" in the parade ring and at the start might be a problem?

He'd of been Desperate Dan up against Frankel!

Even Goldikova would have shown that plodder a clean pair of heels, and she wouldn't have got within a hairs breath of Frankel:biggrin:
