The 19-year-old midfielder, who hails from Hull, has represented England at under-16s, under-17s and under-18s level. Clark’s early promise has led to him regularly playing for the club’s reserve team, and the talented youngster is delighted to have extended his stay at the KC Stadium. “It is a proud moment for me to have signed a new contract with the club,” Clark told Tigers Player. “I’ve really enjoyed my time here and I am now focused on getting better as a player with the aim of eventually making the step up to the first team.” Meanwhile, promising defender Josh Clackstone has signed a one-year deal with the Club. Clackstone, 18, who joined the Tigers at the age of 13 is delighted to have agreed new terms. “I’m delighted to have got my future sorted and my aim now is to continue my progression and improve as a player,” said Clackstone. http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/...gn-new-deals-2502596.aspx#8M8CJG0bEKERWam7.99
So Clark was out of contract? They don't seem to rate him as highly as some fans do. I'd quite like to know why he hasn't been put out on loan; I'd expect to see him in the squad for the Accrington game, along with Townsend and Watson.
He wasn't out of contract, he was already contracted for next season, they've just extended it for another year to the end of the 2016/17 season. It's a good move, hopefully he'll go out on loan these season and we can see if he's as good as everyone thinks he is.
Good news on both. Max Clark especially is now ready for the first team squad, now that we are no longer in the PL.
The whole reserve/ youth system at City just baffles me. We train them up for years and then wave them goodbye at the end of their contracts. A 19 year old player of any reasonable calibre should be knocking on the first team door, but ours are still considered kids. There doesn't appear to be any path from the (so called) reserves to first team squad and that isn't a good way to motivate young players who probably watch kids breaking through at other clubs with envy.
A loan spell at Grimsby/Scunny/York is needed. Reserve games are OK but you need the cut and thrust of competitive (preferably league) games to develop. These lads need proper game time against some seasoned pros, in front of decent crowds.
a video that lasts 104 seconds with a 14 second intro. boring. note for the interviewer: "and what are your hopes and aspirations going forward now for the future?" = "what are your hopes and aspirations?" without the filler. "going forward now for the future" = meaningless twaddle.
