No much coming through on the british side but Turkish media are going as far as to claim we've agreed terms and that Sow has spoke with Dick.

    It's translated

    Fenerbahçe: Sunderland advance to Sow

Sunderland priority in the forward line for next season, Moussa Sow (29) has agreed to the English club, which now has an agreement with the club Senegalese striker, Fenerbahce (Turkey).

Chinese approached by several clubs and Dubai, Moussa Sow (29) Please also much to Sunderland. And in the English club that Fenerbahçe Senegalese international striker could land this summer. The former player LOSC has indeed, according to our information, agreed to Sunderland leaders , he has already met several times as well as their manager, Dick Advocaat , with whom Sow (five goals this season Turkish league) has already spoken live also. It remains the Black Cats to find common ground with Fenerbahce, Sow which is still contractually bound until 30 June 2016.

Make of that what you please.

He got 14 in the Turk league llast year.

Would play on the left of a front 3 so would suits Dicks style.

Hes 30 in Jan so hopefully wouldn't cost a bomb. Fener paid just under £9m for him

    Quality player this lad.

We've been close to signing him for the last 247 windows though so we shall see.

Hope this doesn't mean we are gonna play hoofball (ba-dum-tssssk)

Decent player but £7.5m being touted... For a 29 (30 in Jan) year old in last year of contract? Seems steep to me.

Top level until he's about 32/33 I reckon.

Lampard is 37...and I'd have him now.

Lampard was arguably at his peak between about 31 - 35 years old

Lampard is a Center Midfielder. No way a striker/winger like Sow will remain at peak level until 33. I don't want us giving 4 year contracts at peak wages only for them to deteriorate after year one and them being over paid for the next 3 years. I've no qualms with 7.5m, it's the 4 year contract that would worry me. When we have an over paid deteriorating player being top earner stuck on the books for seasons to come it stretches the wage bill and hampers future transfers.

I hear you mate but I'm only talking about injury fee players. Super Kev for example - we sold him to Southampton aged 29 because we had to, he spent another 5 years in the top flight with Southampton, Villa and WBA. He won a few England Caps too.

But yes I do understand regarding the wages, however, these day's players don't accept 2 year deals now, they want 3 to 4 years as standard.

It won't bother me about his wages if he finds the net often enough ! :emoticon-0148-yes:

Is Defoe is going to be good value after this season when he's on 50-60k a week for two more seasons as 3rd choice Striker while the 1st and 2nd choice are only marginally better due to resources still being tied up on Defoe's deal? I've got a feeling Defoe will prove my point in coming seasons when he becomes a massive drain on our resources

Of course players want contracts that keep them on top money beyond their prime but that doesn't mean should pander to it. If Sow won't take a 2 or 3 deal max I'd tell him to jog on.

Personally have no qualms about a 4 year deal for a 29 year old.

Players stay fit and strong well into their 30's now.
