I know, Henry surprised a few last season me included. As long as he doesn't start doing those turns in the middle of the pitch again like the previous season!!
I am beginning to get a little anxious. Only a week to go and we are way short of CRs target of 8 by the end of June. We are still banned from signing anyone who would need a work permit. Apart from the very underwhelming news about the possibility of Ravel Morrison returning there doesn't appear to much going on. Players out: Rio Ferdinand Shaun Wright-Phillips Joey Barton Karl Henry (Is Henry still with us? He is still of the official website.) Bobby Zamora Richard Dunne Brian Murphy Adel Taarabt Mauricia Isla Eduardo Vargas Niko Krancjar Mauro Zarate Not gone, but will go .... Charlie Austin Not gone, but probably ... Leroy Fer Matt Phillips Sandro Maybe ... Alex McCarthy or Rob Green Doubts over Caulker, Diakite, Traore and Hoillet. Gone so far 12. Possibility of getting up as high as 21! In - so far Jamie Mackie Jay Emmanuel Thomas Massimo Luongo Ben Gladwin Possibility of signing Ravel Morrison. ... plus a few for the development squad and some re-signings of young players who never really featured in the 1st team.
Yes it could be a very exciting or underwhelming week. I go for the latter. Certainly we will be well short of the target by the end of the week.
I agree current squad is looking very thin with more probably leaving before the windows shuts but we got in 4 players already which isn't bad but we really need some decent defenders are defense was shocking last season. GK Green McCarthy DF Caulker Hill Suk-young Onuoha Furlong Robinson(injured) MF Traoré Phillips Fer Faurlín Henry(Maybe) Hoilett Sandro Doughty Diakité Luongo Gladwin FW Mackie Emmanuel-Thomas Austin(leaving) Grego-Cox Then a couple of youngsters who are very unlikely to feature in the first team.
Just remember how little we knew about JET and the Swindon pair till they actually signed Hope we have a CD coming in this week
Think it was a naive statement from Ramsey saying 8 players in. Think we've done very well to get 4 players in as quick as we have. But unless it's a player out of contract no deals are really getting done at the moment because most players are out of the country on holiday. There's no doubt we are trying to sign players so if anything club deserve credit for keeping it in house till it's all done with. When Beard, TF and especially puppet face were more involved it's no surprise we got used to leaks to press in advance
Spurs are looking to loan Yedlin, i'd have him in a heartbeat down at Loftus Road. connection is there as well.
It is so quiet on the transfer side. It is actually very boring! There are no rumours, no tweet, nobody is now ITK, nobody is reporting a player arriving at LR or going to Harlington for a medical, and not not even any early sights of our new kit! This silence is very eerie ... and very unlike QPR of late!
still think it's daft to release half the team before you've found adequate replacements. We're back to replacing entire squads a la Hughes and Redknapp. Yes I know the newbies are younger, cheaper and hungrier but I'm sure keeping an old campaigner like Dunne (for example) for another year would have been a good move. No idea at all about how the season will pan out.
Patience is required. 4 new signings is pretty good for now and I'm afraid that the days of buying a new team each year because the old one can't be repaired and glued together in time put out a team of 11 in time for the start of the season is I hope a thing of the past.. As PD has said, most are still on hols. Finally look to the previous management They created the problem by signing and loaning has-beens for one season at a time. The beauty of doing it the Redknapp way is that you get to do it all over again each year. His mates, the football agents must have loved it but to me there' no beauty in it at all. it's no way to build a side
It would be better to see we are starting to build a side that will compete in the PL, rather than League 1. Still as you say plenty of time yet, both for incoming quality but also outgoing quality unfortunately.
I think you expect to much, Ossie. We are going to be under severe financial constraints and the only realistic recruitment policy is try to find players that may develop into premiership-quality in two or three years' time. We are going about it the right way in my opinion.
