Mermaid... notorious ???? crikey i must have been p1ssed when i went in there, just seemed like a decent watering hole when i went in
Ha! I went to that gig too! I think it changed it's name from Silhouette to Code, and then back again? Or the other way round. I remember it did become Silhouette, with the phone box in the entrance. Me and my mates followed The Departure to their next gig at Fibbers in York too.
Twaddles is alive and well, I saw a recent photo of him last week, the old Silhouette has it's own Facebook page with some good old photos on it.
Henry's was the place to be seen when I was younger! It was rough as! A fight every night but some good sounds.
Henry's should be on that list as should Telstar. ****ing Telstar. What khazi that place was. I once got thrown out of Earl De Gray for mis behaving. Beat that.
Eh? Did people actually go to Yo-Yo? It was 100% indie disco and named the best club night in Britain by Melody Maker.
How can this list not include Romeo and Juliets - This club was formed with the word 'Notorious' in mind.
Phil's a prick, I worked with him and remember him openly talking the piss out of people for supporting City in the very worst days. Suddenly, when there's a book deal in the offing he's a lifelong ****ing fan....
R & J`s was only notorious for the birds that ya picked up in there..... kin hell the doctor deffo had some visits from me on the back of that place
I think there were two - one in Park Street and one down Spring Bank - it was the one down Spring Bank that was the gay club circa 1974/5
chortle yersen. There was a coffee club on that corner. It later became a picture-framers, selling pictures and prints.
