Sensible to discuss. I assume you're not calling the folk discussing this subject moronic Nick? Afterall it may seem like bullcrap but there are some pretty obvious things that add some substance to it.

First off do you not think Chelsea will do exactly that and pay a lot of money to get a quality replacement? Do you really think Roman is just going to accept playing 2nd fiddle to Man U? No he isn't so it is quite sensible to think they'll do exactly that. 2nd. Forget Villas Boas. He does not have full control over their transfer policy. Ancelloti more or less confirmed how it works. The manager gives their preferred choices, and in most cases gets them, but if Roman has a particular interest in a player then he will arrive. And finally Essien may be just about finished. It's the same knee again I believe and it may be that Chelsea recognise this and look for the long term solution. Hell it's not even unthinkable that Newcastle have thought this far ahead and the 6 year contract is to ensure the correct amount of money is received. Add in that Chelsea have known interest in Tiote and it's well worth discussing.

I think Parker on loan makes more sense, he's English, would only be there a season and help him on a personal level with the national side. They only need a short term replacement, no sense in paying a load of money for Tiote only to have him sat on the bench by February.

I agree it makes more sense, but i can't see WHam letting Parker go out on loan, if he's leaving they'll want cash for him. Plus Abramovich is a man that just spent £50m on an out of form Torres so i'm not convinced he'll be sensible in this case.

Carroll had just signed a deal and we all know what happened there.....

We know Ashley by now, its all about the money. He knows by having Tiote on a long deal ups and transfer fee we can command for him. He wasnt interested in tying him down for the benefit of the club!!! Lining his pockets again.

Tiote will go for anything between £15-20m. Ashley seems to be able to get good deals at least. Gosling could fill in for Tiote as you can guarantee it will be a deal done near the end of the window leaving us no time to replace him and Ashley, once more, with a nice profit.

I would love to know what our current debt total is.... used to be £130m..... If we arent spending any more on transfers i would hope thats down by at least £20m from the Carroll money not to mention wage reductions, tv revenue etc. Get another £15-20m profit this window will see it down to less than £100m.... if he isnt taking money out of the club...... like to have a wager on that one???

I would have liked to see us in for Craig Gardner exactly for this reason. I hope Pardew doesnt fall for the old "we wont sell him" banter and is sensible enough to line a quick replacement up if Tiote goes..... In fact i wouldnt be surprised if him, Barton and Nolan all go at the last minute so we cant spend any cash.

SSN reporting they'll let him go on loan, makes sense for both clubs as they could then have him back if they get promoted first time and Chelsea could pay 100% of his wages. Heard something about a £1.5m loan fee as well.

Smudger - Are you convinced Essien is going to make a full recovery? This is a recurring problem for him now. The one thing I would say though is they'd probably prefer a replacement who won't be away for the ACON in Jan/Feb.

Why would we sell Nolan then buy Gardner?

I have no idea but he'll get the best medical treatment in the world most likely and they do have Mikel and Ramires who can play there, as well as McEachran who they rate very highly. Parker on loan makes more sense to me.

Mikel is truly terrible. Can't believe how much he cost and how many games he gets.

Problem is though this is Chelsea. they ain't gonna struggle through, they'll just buy their way out. The young lad is not ready for a team of their stature, they must realise Mikel is super average, and Ramires is good but no Essien. I reckon they'll buy a defensive/central mid on top of trying to get Modric.

Tiote isn't going, he came to me in a vision last night and promised to score another screamer and rack up even more yellows next season.

    This, except for Torres! :D

In reality though.. I wouldn't want to sell him AT any price unless it's 100m hehe.

ALAN PARDEW has insisted Newcastle United will not be forced into panic buying in the remainder of the transfer window.
However, the Toon manager admitted he still has work to do when it comes to outgoing transfers before the window closes on August 31.
Those departures are not set to include Cheick Tiote, despite the Ivory Coast warrior being linked with a move to Chelsea today.

And while there is an interest in Crystal Palace’s teenage right-back Nathan Clyne, United are yet to make a move for the youngster who is attracting Birmingham City’s attention.
Both Nile Ranger and Wayne Routledge have been told they have no future with the Magpies.
And they both could miss the trip to the United States next week as Pardew attempts to work with the nucleus of the squad he intends to carry him through the season.
Pardew told the Chronicle: “We’re looking at getting one or two more players in before the window closes, but we’ve also got a big squad.

“We need to move one or two on – that’s where we are.
“One or two players aren’t going to get the first-team action they deserve for the type of player they are.
“They’ll be better off getting first-team football elsewhere, be it on loan or permanently.”

I dont understand why we let sky take pictures of Ranger in his kit (to be used for Sky Live games) if we are to sell him <doh>

I reckon AVB would go for a player he knows more about. The way he does things (stupidly in depth research) he doesnt seem like the type of guy that would just go with someone elses advice.

(also, Lassana Diarra is out of favour at RM)
