The whole of the outside is the crust, hence making posh sarnies and cutting the crusts off - so why call the end slices which are all crust, anything other than 'crust'.
Cut a fresh Vienna Loaf in half, pull the bread out of the middle spread butter on the inside where the bread was and add chips or a filling of your choice, make a great butty.
