I see Leicester have sacked the three players, including the managers son, after their antics in Thailand which the club said were sexist and racist and not acceptable.

Wonder if this would have happened if they were not owned by Thai businessmen.

  2. All three are youth products too though. Would they have taken the same stance had it been first team players with a asset value to the club?

The three lads have a sum total of one appearance for Leicester in the Mickey Mouse Cup between them. Can't say it's really taking a stand on that basis.

It's the same as Chelsea sacking that lad who set off a smoke grenade, but not sacking Cole after he shot someone. I think we just sacked one of our scouts this year for making posts about immigrants on Facebook, but didn't do anything about Rio's choc ice comment on Twitter.

And remember when Liverpool sacked that U21 keeper who was laughing during the Hillsborough memorial match? Would they have done the same if it had been Suarez, Henderson, Coutinho, or Sturridge? The player in question would probably have been sold sharpish, but not just sacked if they have a value in the tens of millions (tens of thousands for Henderson <whistle>)

  8. Can't recall a under 21 player doing that but Charles Itandje did it. He wasn't sacked but he didn't play for us again (or before for that matter)

My mistake - thought he was U21.

Point still stands though - clubs are happy to dump players who are reserves or not regulars, but very rarely take a stand if it's a senior player, or one who features regularly. Only example I can think of is Chelsea with Mutu, and he was already on the way out the door when he failed his drugs test, that just gave them an excuse to cut their losses and claim his transfer fee back as compensation.

They deserved sacking for what they did. Vile creatures.

The wider issue of whether a large asset value player would have been treated in the same way is a side issue. I'd like to think in the same circumstances, yes.

  14. But we already know its a no. Luis Suarez, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry (all racism), Ashley Cole (bullying), etc All caught up in big incidents but never remotely close to being sacked.

Those were all either on the pitch or at their respective clubs, the 3 Leicester players weren't representing their club.
But it's like expecting Fergie/Utd to sack Rooney/Giggs for their indiscretions off the pitch and away from the club.

Just as well our players are saintly and angelic.<whistle>

As far as I remember Evra wasn't chewing Suarez off at the point he was racially abused <whistle>

This incident wan't just about the racist comments, it was about the way they belittled and insulted the woman / women who they were sexually sharing, and the fact that they filmed the entire disgusting scene.
