I think £10m for a player with Cisse's record is a reasonable ask IMHO.
If clubs want him they will have to dig deep as fatty ain't gonna be rolled over like a mug.

    http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sp..._for_Papiss_Cisse_after_knocking_back_offers/

NEWCASTLE UNITED are not prepared to sell Papiss Cisse for anything less than £10m this summer after knocking back Michael Laudrup’s attempts to land him.
In a move which could yet affect Steve McClaren’s own rebuilding programme, the Magpies are ready to hold on to last season’s top scorer rather than sell him for less than what they believe he is worth.
That could impact on McClaren’s own ideas, even though he is appreciative of what the Senegal international can serve up in front of goal when he is fully fit.
McClaren has identified Queens Park Rangers’ Charlie Austin as the striker he wants to lead the line next season, but there is also strong interest in Wolfsburg’s Bas Dost and West Brom’s Saido Berahino. To bring two of that three in would cost well in excess of £20m so the sale of Cisse could be key.
The African turned 30 this month and still has two years remaining on his contract. He boasted the best minutes-per-goal ratio of any Premier League striker last season, having scored 11 times from his 11 starts (and 11 substitute) which amounted to 1,154 minutes on the field of play last season.

Newcastle could do with him being fit for the longer term having spent the majority of last season battling to overcome a kneecap problem.
That has not put off the interest in him, with clubs from Russia, China and the Middle East all known to be keen. Lekhiywa, managed by former Swansea boss Laudrup, are one of the likeliest suitors for his signature.
The Qatari Stars League title winners, who have just handed the Danish boss a further year’s contract, are one of a number of clubs willing to give the player a significant pay rise to what he is earning at St James’ Park. However, Cisse looks set to remain in the North-East for the time being after both Newcastle and the player knocked back offers.
McClaren hopes to have at least two new players on board before the start of pre-season training in a fortnight’s time. It is under a month until he takes Newcastle to the United States on a first tour under his watch.

He does not intend to sell many of his players before the transfer window closes on September 1.
The former England boss is thought to be interested in signing 22-year-old Jesse Lingard from one of his old clubs, Manchester United. He had Lingard at Derby County on loan last season and is weighing up whether to hand him a Premier League chance next season on Tyneside.

As it seems likely that we mot sign any striker of any worth I think we need to keep Cisse. His workrate is crap but he is an accomp-lished goal sniffer so he one to keep I think. I have that sinking feeling yet again though when it comes to new additions to the squad. When they start to announce new signings there will be a collective shout of " who the fcuks he?" from the fans I fear!

    Agree here.
We need to keep Ayoze and Cisse and ship out Riviere,
If we can then get Austin and Dost in we will be in good shape with a canny front 4.
Then we need to rebuild the defence...

Another Graham Carr gem. We all knew before we even signed the bloke that he would be dogshit. Monaco aren't exactly going to let someone decent go for £6 million are they?

100% this, he was a total panic buy. We might as well have gone in for another couple of mill and got the lad Carrasco. Lightning fast winger.

Not sure why it is a Graham Carr gem? He was clearly number 150 on his list! Once again those in charge of purse strings and the contracts fecked up!

I'd rather keep Cisse. He's inconsistent fitness wise now but he does seem to score a helpful amount of goals, and would be a good 2nd/3rd choice.

Pointless selling him if we're not going to use the cash to replace. Doesn't matter if it's 1p or 20 million if it's not used to find a suitable replacement.

It hardly a hands off valuation, more of a come and get him valuation. 8 million could secure him. You obviously want to generate a bit more cash.

What with injury and a temperament worsening leading to suspensions, he's a liability.

Cut losses and get rid asap.

I'd take somewhere in the region of 8-10mil.

I can't help thinking what could have been with Cisse. If he was to secure a move to a decent side where he gets service, somewhere like Man U for example (not that they would look at him), I could honestly see him absolutely banging them in.

Probably the right time to move on. He came to us, scored some very important goals for us. If he wants another chapter fair enough.
