Im quite calm about the lack of transfers, The team seems quite solid as far as Strikers go i think the M&M will be all we need week in week out, Jackett has around 4 million to spend and about 45k in wage bill at his disposal, i hope we get Puncheon in for under the 1 million mark and hopeful Andros Townsend in aswell (either seaon loan or perm deal) I think we then need a good all round defender, i feel teams had worked our back 4 out towards the end of last season, and maybe one more striker but im not overly fussed it think if we get the line up in midfield then we have the strikers we need to, Bouazza, Henry, Puncheon and and Townsend call all play up front!
i agree with the lack of transfers i dont want kenny buying players just to keep the fans happy i think we have a good starting 11 as it is
neil i fully agree m8 and i think thats how Kenny sees it too. let everyone think we are desperate for strikers thats fine by me, i think McQuoid and Marquis both young both keen both able, will be a good partnership,,my thoughts are start the season with them see how things go im sure if the right striker at the right price comes along Kenny will snap them up but i think we can afford to wait for that person,,,we have a good foundation that Kenny has built and im very quietly confident for this season, if we can add Townsend or Punch or someone alike then i think we can live with anybody in this league, and we wont be giving much away at the den,,,
I would love us to get Andros Townsend on board. He is an out and out winger and from what I saw last season, he is more than capable at this level. Him and James Henry on the wings, who can both cross a ball sweetly and both strike a ball, with Chris Hackett and Buoazza both keeping them on their toes for the places. Having the wingers makes it better for strikers as they get a good service. Getting in one striker to top it off would be great. We do need a sort of replacement for Morison as he was our target man and main goal threat for 2 seasons. But I can see Marquis (who is tipped to be a top natural scorer and poacher) and McQuoid both stepping up to the plate this season and playing a vital part. As for defenders, I feel we are comfortable at the back. We had one of the best defensive records in this league, with players such as Tony Craig, Darren Ward and Darren Purse who all have bundles of experience at this level. Plus the versatility of Smithy, who I think comes in and does a good job for such little game time he gets in a season. And Tam is also by trade a defender. Dunney seems to be excelling every season.
We only have 4 out and out strikers in the squad at the moment. Batt didn't go on the Ireland tour so is obviously still not fit. Henderson is injury prone so I do think we are a couple of strikers short to cover for injuries and suspensions during the season.
Robinson didn't go to Ireland either....but Purse seems to dip under everyones view - I think we are strong now in all positions - Let the new lads settle and lets see how things go (assuming we get Andros and maybe Punch)
Ishmael Miller rejected a year long loan to Millwall so he can establish himself in the west brom team,
I think our defense is fairly sound to be honest, 3rd best after QPR and Swans last year. If it gets any stronger we wont be conceding any goals next season and it will be boring knowing we wont get beaten Another striker le fondre or Rhodes and I reckon we will have a decent season oh, and Puncheon and Townsend on loan again
