Which would it be ? With a 25 man squad we should only really have a maximum of 4 strikers over 21 so one will surely go ,possibly 2 if we recruit someone else. Interested to see if we are in agreement
A toss up between wolfie and Lafferty for me. Ultimately I'm not sure either of them or Grabban for that matter are up to PL level, but I will cling to the forlorn hope that AN can get the best out of Wolfie. The fact that he sent Lafferty out also means I doubt he rates him. So if one Lafferty to go. He at least might actually garner some interest too (Not sure Wolfie would at the moment!) Bah!
I wish you Idiots would take this forum seriously . I am attempting to engage in some topical debate and a few morons are ruining it for the rest of us .
I'm surprised about the votes against Lafferty tbh - he had a bit of a tough time playing on the wing, but he's the only one to go to the Press and say he desperately wants to come back to Norwich and prove himself. I like that personally. After swinging back and forth on RvW, I think I'm settling on the idea that we need to cut our losses and wave goodbye. I think my heart was ruling my head and just not wanting us to have wasted all that cash. As for Grabban though he should be loaned out to Swindon or Hamilton Accies at the earliest opportunity.
I'd pick all 3 of Laffs; Grabs and Winks..... You could make them into a decent firm of solicitors though!
I watched N Ireland Romania and Lafferty was ok he chased every ball and ran his arse off missing an absolute sitter at the end. I would love for him to come good the same with Winkel . If we don't buy another striker I will not be dissapointed.
I'd axe Lafferty, he gets more yellow cards than goals and would probably spend most of his time suspended. Wolfie is a proven goal-scorer, you only need to look at his record before he joined us, the tactics employed by the manager who brought him to Carrow Road did not help his cause in his first season with us and imo he should be given a clean slate under Alex Neil who is a more attack ,minded manager than Hughton and I think AN could get more out of RVW than what Hughton did. (perhaps with just a "wee chat" & a "curly finger")
It would be much easier if we only had to choose one to keep . I fear Jerome is the only premier league striker we have.
To be fair they are all proven goal-scorers, but with the exception of Jerome not a premier league level. I fear that RvW doesn't have sufficient stomach for a fight either for the ball or a place at this level, where as Lafferty seems to be willing to fight for everything, although probably doesn't fit in with the Neil's prefered team format. If you could combine the best of both players abilites I think we'd end up with a decent premier league striker. It is still far from clear whether or not Hooper is good enough for the premier league but he seems to be up for the fight so deserves a chance and I would keep him as our 3rd / 4th choice striker. Grabban almost certainly doesn't have the necessary atributes, but like Hooper probably deserves a chance (4th choice). If we could move RvW & Lafferty on and get a striker of a similar or better quality than Jerome then I think that would do us. Assuming of course that Neil intends to set up the team in a similar format that he has used in the championsip then as SN23 says, in a squad of 25 we are probably looking at keeping 4 strikers over 21.
Completely agree. Keep Jerome, sell the rest if we can, buy 2 new strikers and try and get a decent under 21 prospect on loan from a top Club.
Grabbans movement is useful and gives us another option, the issue is he just not clinical enough for the PL. I would like to see a better version join probably in place of lafferty. Hooper for me definitely has more to offer.
I think Hooper is capable of scoring goals at any level and we should definitely keep him. It can be difficult fitting him into a one striker system though.
6 in 34 appearances last time we were in the PL doesn't fill me with hope. On top of that AN seems to prefer playing only one up top and I cannot see Hooper causing top defences as many problems in that role as Jerome will. I also wonder whether AN rates him - even in the Championship he appeared to be behind Jerome and Grabban in the pecking order.
