According to a report from the Birmingham Mail, Queens Park Rangers winger Matt Phillips tops West Bromwich Albion’s summer shopping list.

The 24-year-old has a contract with Chris Ramsey’s side until the summer of 2017, but with QPR recently relegated now could be the perfect chance for the Baggies to make their move and tempt the wide-man back into the top flight.

Phillips played 27 times for QPR last season, scoring three goals and providing eight assists. Considering the London club’s struggles that is a fine return from the winger and it is no surprise West Brom are said to be interested.

Phillips has made a total of 49 appearances for QPR and the latest report claims he is one of two wingers West Brom manager Tony Pulis is targeting this summer.

The story claims that along with two new wide-men, the Baggies boss also has his eye on a new goalkeeper, two new full-backs and two additional strikers.

Phillips would be a fine addition as he is yet to reach his peak and has top flight experience, standing out in a side that struggled for large parts of last season.

If he's contracted till 2017 and there is no release clause we should look to keep hold of him unless we get a silly money offer.

Would love for him to stay. Don't think he gets anywhere near the credit he deserves from certain punters and is unfairly considered lazy.

Realistically, if he's on a good wage and we get offered £8m or so we aren't in much of a position to turn it down. Figure plucked from thin air.

I too would like him to stay, but like most things in football they don't operate in the real world as the rest of us do. Players contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on, if a player decides he wants to leave you may as well let them go. There's little mileage in keeping a grumpy toad in the dressing room bringing the rest of the squad down to his level.

TF said that after all the high earners were released everyone else had relegation clauses in their contracts to drop wages if we went down. I could see him staying as he has two years left and going next year if we don't go up, don't think we are that desperate for money that we need to sell him so it'll take a really good offer to tempt us I hope!

It's been said on here that he's not the most confident person and so he might like the stability that staying would offer. Also, didn't we buy him when in the Championship so he would drop back to an acceptable level in terms of wages.

If we get an offer too good to resist and he's happy to go then let him leave but I think there's enough talent there (a lot of it unfulfilled) that mean it could be an excellent chance for us to develop him further (consistency, team play and a touch more end product) and reap a lot of rewards in the process (while having one less position to fill).

If another club shows interest, and offers more than we paid for him, and he wants to go, he should go.

Same for any other player, except Caulker, we should dump him at a loss if necessary.

Sandro? I'm not sure we'd find anyone gullible enough to take him off our hands for even half of what we paid.

I doubt we'd find someone to take him on a free at the wages he's on.

We'll probably loan him out and pay half.

If relegation pay cuts have been written to all recent contracts then hopefully he can be lured away.

I don't quite have him as a mercenary but I don't have my normal resolve of seeing the positives in him.

I doubt he can handle the rigours of pre-season let alone 46 games on top. I suspect he'll most probably be seen as an option back in Brazil but we'll probably be treating some injury or another until January to match their season.

Better still, we could just balls up his work permit application again until he gets deported.

One I'd definitely want to keep unless got ridiculous money for him, at the end of the day anyone who goes we need a suitable replacement which probably wouldn't be cheap & that needs to be someone who can step up & play in the Prem if/when we get promotion.

I'm hoping he's an addition rather than replacement would seem a big ask to expect someone who's highest experience is League 1 & a couple of years ago was playing non-league to come in as a direct replacement for someone who's been playing at Premiership level & wanted by other Prem clubs.
