Very harsh I think. We're going to lose a lot of players this summer and need to sign a lot. Not every signing is going to be a stand out banker 1st team starter. As a versatile squad player, capable of making an impact off the bench I think it's a sensible signing and free's budget up for more crucial signings
Not for me. Seen him a few times this year at the gate. He will score the odd great goal but if you get 20 mins a game from him your lucky. I don't profess to be itk but I have some friends well connected there and it is rumoured he wasn't offered a contract as city could not afford him as Ipswich were paying part of his wages whilst he was there. He wouldn't drop his wages so city said no thanks.
Mmm? We give away Adel to a team playing CL, but recruit a Bristol City reject, and pay for youngsters from Swindon. Probably symptomatic of owners losing money fast.
Once my other half stopped laughing, she looked at her Ipswich forum and they're actually quite generous in their wishes to him. Some calling him lazy and others fearful that he'll make them feel like they've lost a good one. They do seem to suggest he's a reliable character - good for the dressing room and with the fans. My fears about his workrate as stated on a previous thread persist but he's ours now and I hope we get the best from him.
So we sign a player that Bristol City deem not good enough for the Championship, this bodes well! I wait with bated breath to be proved wrong.
I'm hoping he will do well and will not pre-judge him at all. As an aside, I assume there is no danger of us having a transfer embargo? I assume we have been given the nod that it's ok to sign? Have I missed something?
Getting a lot of League One players, are they trying to tell us something? Plus Where are all the TF tweets? You remember when we would sign players he would tweet.
I'm not unhappy at all with this signing - it is a free after all. He's 24, obviously has talent, and could still improve with the right coaching.
No, they're not. Will Charlie be a QPR reject? Was Remy? Were the pair from Swindon? This would mean the club is willingly letting the player go. The only time this could 'mostly' be the case is players from the likes of Real Madrid where the club will always be bigger than it's players.
In the case of JET who was released by Bristol City you could say he has been "rejected" as for the two Swindon boys it's a different scenario altogether, they have stepped up a league. I can sort of see where Aqualung is coming from but you are right of course, the likes of Charlie will never be seen as rejects.
Hardly a Bristol City reject, they just cannot afford his wages although that does still make him an Ipswich reject. He is a decent youngster and the type to flourish under Ramsey and Ferdinand. Really no pleasing you lot on here, you seriously need to get to grips with the fact that it is imperative that we drastically trim the overheads...you need to start getting that or you will be whingeing all season!
The negativity from some people to a signing of a young player with bags of potential is quite astounding. We've bought over-priced, over-hyped **** for years. All three signings so far have something to prove, will see us as a step up and will be on a realistic wage.
