    I remember this well. It was like the end of the world for rangers fans. Our chairman Jim Gregory had looked after Rodney well, but I think there was always an agreement that if we dropped out of the promotion race that he could go. We got 200k for Rodney. Jago reinvested it wisely and bought Givens from Luton for £40k and Stan from Carlisle for 110k. When things were going well the next season Jim put his hand in pocket and paid 165k for Dave Thomas and we were on our way to building one of the best teams English football had ever seen.

    Also it will always be a debating point about the Stan Vs Rodney who was better. They are both proper Rangers Legends and we may not have seen Stan without this happening.

    Wish I was around to have witnessed this chapter in our history. My Dad, Granddad (RIP) and three older cousins have told me many a yarn of these golden times!
