http://www1.skysports.com/football/...league-player-released-list-for-201415-season Anybody catch your eye? Micah Richards is the obvious choice. I've always been a fan of Distin aswell. in fact I'd rather get rid of Brown and bring him in in his place.
Curious as to why the money that will be going towards Brown's contract could not essentially be offered to Vlaar/Richards...
Vlaar, Richards would help shore up our defence and - a touch more controversially - I'd actually have Cleverley and Barton in as our midfield has some marginal talent but lacks backbone and depth. In reality the only player there who would consider us is Cleverley and I assumed he had already gone to Villa? He's not great but he's ok and a victim of England fans getting on his back for having been previously over-rated.
Thought there was rumours last season he was off to United? As for the OP, not many there we'd want that would realistically consider us an option. As stated, Vlaar and Richards would be very decent free transfers, John Guidetti could be worth a punt although it seems he's not quite so big a star as he was predicted to be a few years back... On that topic, I remember Ryo Miyaichi was touted as the next big thing a little while back, just checked and he was shipped out to Holland last season and wound up playing in Twente's reserves talk about a fall from grace.
Don't think any of us actually know. It's an assumption I made too but my dad firmly told me we know nothing about the contract situations!! Richards and or Vlaar would be great IMO. I don't rate cleverley at all! Backwards and sideways are his limit. Think Vlaar is going to United from what I've heard although nothing concrete!
There was a rumour on the Mags board about 4-5 days ago that they might be getting Richards. But it has now gone quiet so who knows??
Its What you don't think he's quality?? Did you see him in the World Cup? And apparently Man U are after him?!!! I love Luke be buzzing if we got him.
Yes I saw him in the world cup and yes he was quality in that tournament.. I've also seen him plenty of times in the Prem aswell and in my opinion he can be very clumsy at times. Just because Man U want him (apparently), doesn't mean he's the bees knees. If they had have wanted him I think he'd have been signed by now.
You sir are correct, if Man U had wanted him he would have been signed and holding up a Man U shirt, looks like they might have changed their mind.
John Guidetti. Released from Man City. Got 15 last year at Celtic. Been linked in the past. If Fletcher and Graham go we need two strikers. Risk free really on a free.
I agree mate - he';s not United level - good for us (possibly) but not at top end level! Just had heard a number of rumours from some lads who I worked with in Manchester! All City fans mind (proper ones - Maine Road regulars not the bandwagoners!) I'd have him here though for definite - as poor as their defence was he was the one player who stood out
