I didn`t quote Burton, I said his post was near enough the same as the one I read. Fair enough though, let`s wait for the outcome and the reasoning behind it
Here is the full verson... http://www.football-league.co.uk/global/appendix4.aspx The section you have wrote down is in section 4 but section 3 is quite interesting... 3 In making a determination as aforesaid, the Committee shall take into account the costs set out in Regulation 4 and any of the following criteria: 3.1 the status of each of the Transferor Club and the Transferee Club; 3.2 the age of the Player; 3.3 the Training Model(s) (as that term is defined in Youth Development Rule 1.71) on which the Player was engaged with the Transferor Club; 3.4 the amount of any fee paid by the Transferor Club upon acquiring the registration of the Player; 3.5 the length of time during which the Transferor Club held the registration of the Player; 3.6 the terms of the new contract offered to him by both the Transferor Club and the Transferee Club; 3.7 his playing record including any international appearances; 3.8 substantiated interest shown by other clubs in acquiring the registration of the Player Read more at http://www.football-league.co.uk/global/appendix4.aspx#PvOVhB3CD5PpiqZ4.99
Exactly, the key part being "in acquiring the registration", which the Spurs bid could not achieve at any stage, whereas Diego loves to quote Andy Burton's "substantiated interest" part Because Burton and Levy don't understand the rules they thought the bid would enable early access to speak with Ings, rather than being a legitimate valuation (in fact it is intentionally designed to be a significant overvaluation) Thanks for proving the point
So it's simple. The committee says. 1. Burnley are relegated. Lfc are #midtable. 2. He is 22. 3. Burnley bought him for 1mil so didn't develop him 4. Had him for 4 years. Kind of meaningless but hey they got their pound of flesh 5. Burnley paid him peanuts. Lfc prob paying average industry wage for a young lad 6. Most importantly his playing record which according to all bitter crabbys is ****e and after all burnley went down. He is u21 England player. 7. Burnley have to produce the infamous faxed bids to prove interest. So going by this he's worth about 3mil max... thanks for all the knocking that's being done of the lad. He's practically worthless by now.
Had Ings agreed to join Spurs they would have "acquired his registration" on July 1st, the same as Liverpool will if they agree the tribunals valuation.
Im not against sterling possibly wanting to go to a bigger team... It's the way he's gone about it that's the problem. Goig behind cluba back back doing interviews putting in half arsed displays etc...
“They would also factor in his playing record including any international appearances, as well as any ‘substantiated interest’ shown by other clubs in signing him and reported interest in a player could see the compensation amount rise. Looks like it may have some impact then, if this article is to be believed. Though Spurs bid was a farce, and I would hope the tribunal see through it.....
8. The £1m investment saw a player score enough goals for Burnley to be promoted to the PL and land a £90m pot of gold.
How does this work if the price set is higher than Liverpool are prepared to pay? Can Liverpool rescind the contract?
Helping them gain a £90m pot of gold should be considered part compensation too though. I'm not saying they won't get anything or that achieving PL status will effect the tribunal figure, what I am saying is it will have just as much of an effect as the £12m Spurs bid
I think it's going to be a fair price but Burnley are only playing a waiting game. The price can even be lower then £8m Liverpool are willing to pay.
