The powers that be saw this as a great opportunity to hike fuel prices at an ever increasing rate whilst we were still adjusting to the metric system.

Yep me as well. Had it a couple of years and had to have three sets of front shocks fitted. I'm sure the thing had a twisted chassis.

    SKODA.
When my son was about 8 years old. He usually asked me.
"How does Skoda climb the hill"? and very quickly he always
    added "by miracle".

When I first passed my test my mum had a Chrysler Avenger. When my mum and dad went on holiday they said I could use it whilst they were away. They day before they went away for two weeks my mum shopped so my brother and sister and I would have food in for the two weeks they were away.

Towards the end of the first week of what was a hot summer there was a terrible smell in the car. I could not find what it was, but could not get into the boot as I had no key. For the entire second week me and my mates drove around with all the windows open. When my mum came home I got the boot key off her and found a bag of mince in the boot which was rotten having been in there for two weeks in hot weather.

Put me off the Avenger, which was a crap car anyway.

The rust held it together and you could see the road through the floor. It lasted 6 months before I moved on to A 1973 Hillman Avenger.
