That would be XH558, the last airworthy one. Last summer we got a freebie look while out rambling. It was obviously going to/from a venue but we got the works. Really low both times and on the return visit we even got the Vulcan Howl from its intakes. The sort if thing to make the hair stand up on one's head. If one had enough hair, that is. What I didn't know was that not all Vulcans did it. XH558 does it seemingly at will. Truly a world class aircraft from the 1950-60s. Hard to believe it comes from that era, it was so advanced at the time:
Well the upper part would be the other way round if it was me; more chest slipped than chest pumped!!
But your comment about Emirates contains the answer. Have you ever seen an advert for Emirates? I don't ever recall seeing one. However, all of us know of them. How? Sponsorship. Name twenty other airlines (there are over 240 international airlines if that helps). How do I know of Jobsite? Solely because of sponsorship. Portsmouth FC is the only way I've ever heard of them. And where did I look first for a place to advertise a job last summer? You know them because they spend their money on sponsorship. Money well spent. Vin
Breaking News: Relentless Saint Supertramp (that's me) has changed his Avatar for the first time since he joined the forum way back in May 2011. Note: I may or may not have posted this purely to see if i had actually successfully managed to change it. And then to admire my new avatar and revel in my success.
I'd update mine more often but my dog always keeps a wary eye on me whenever i have a saints shirt in my hand.
Paris Open tennis resumes at 11.45 with Murray v Djokovic. Murray had just started a fight back and taken the third set. He had broken Djokovic in 4th set, but then was broken right back. Think the stoppage for weather will probably favour the Serb, but here's hoping.
Nick Illinsgsworth said ( in the echo) its nice to see Portsmouth recognising us as the biggest club in Hampshire , and supporting us in Europe . He also said he hoped they would paint HMS Victory and South sea Castle red , so they would have a complete set .....

Like I said, for some things fair enough sponsorship can raise awareness. For other things I think people generally know a particular company so well that it makes no difference. Maybe some people who live under rocks might no have heard about them before, but enough to justify the millions spent? Who knows. And obviously you need to know about a company to use it, but just knowing about it doesn't necessarily mean I'm going to use it. I'm gonna go for the cheapest/most effective. Whether they sponsor my team or not absolutely no bearing. As for 20 other airlines, let's do this.. British Airlines Delta Airlines Continental Airlines Air America Lufthansa Aer Lingus Egypt Air Singapore Airlines Turkish Airlines Air France BMI Swiss Air Qantas Kenya Airlines Germanwings Malaysian Airlines United Airlines Eitihad Qatar Airlines Emirates In fairness, most of those I know because I flew with them or, unfortunately, due to accidents involving said airline. Only two of which I would say I know due to sponsorship (Eitihad and Emirates).
All we have to know is that companies spend zillions on advertising and sponsorship. After all this time, don't you think they'd have noticed if it didn't work. We've mentioned Emirates on here quite a bit since this was announced. And I had never heard of Emirates until they sponsored Arsenal.
Also, not sure if anyone already posted this, but Football Manager 2015 is free this weekend on Steam. It's pretty good, unrealistic though as Craig Westcarr actually scores goals.
Sat in The Brightwater pub eating breakfast before our walk today and looking up at the screens missing to footy build-up.
