Looking forward to the sequel Get Carver - featuring BRS as the evil henchman thinking up new and heinous ways to dispose of our misunderstood hero.

I'm a big fan of George Gently too. Auf Wiedersehn Pet is top for me.

Pet was great, but Our Friends was better.

Cracker should be in with a shout, though.

    Agree with George Gently.

Admit to slight bias as youngest daughter has had a small part in one of the earlier episodes. The one about Northern Soul and racism, she was the barmaid and cloakroom attendant.

I can understand your Tyneside bias: but in all honesty, The Boys from the Black Stuff wiped the floor with any other ones mentioned there. Bernard Hill's performance as Yosser Hughes was incredible, and one that made a massive impression on many people at the time, which was set in the darkest days of Thatcher's Britain..

Cracker is one of the best British TV shows over the last 30 years.

Aye - The one episode that sticks out for me, the one with Robert Carlyle as the Psycho Liverpool fan. Absolutely brilliant. Shame they never made that many episodes though.

Some of the best British shows in my lifetime, not in any order:

    Auf Wiedersehen Pet
    Only Fools and Horses
    Cracker
    One Foot in the Grave
    Boys from the Black Stuff
    Our Friends in the North
Life on Mars/ Ashes to Ashes...

I can't argue with the vast majority of that list, although I have to confess that I have never saw an episode of Our Friends In The North..

Loved the episode when they were trying to avoid the England result so they could enjoy the game on TV later..

I love that film. So many great scenes. When Caine kicks the car door and the thugs head goes through the glass...ahh just wonderful stuff. Def check out The Reckoning, Sitting Target and The Squeeze for underrated British crime flicks of the 70's.

Ant and Dec did a remake of that episode a few years back with Rodney Bewes making a cameo appearance,
obviously nowhere near as good as the original.

'Look who's coming to dinner' is a particular favourite of mine <ok>
