    Looks like M this season.

    Milner first. Who next?

    Martinez? Montoya?

Or we sign 2 more from City. Jovetic and Clichy?

Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce they have agreed a deal to sign Manchester City’s James Milner, subject to a lean.

The Reds have agreed personal terms with the England international, who will join the club on a free transfer on July 1 after his contract at the Etihad Stadium has expired.

Milner will arrive at Anfield having lifted two Barclays Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup during his five-year spell with City.

The 29-year-old is also firmly established as a regular for England and has notched 53 caps to date.

Having also represented Leeds United, Newcastle United and Aston Villa, Milner has lined up against Liverpool 24 times in total during the course of his career.

Not really. We're offering him £150k PLUS signing on fee. It's one big pay off for him before he retires. We're committing £31m to Milner based on a 4 year contract and that's not including the signing on fee which will be between £5-10m.

If he wanted more mins, he wouldn't have stayed at City for the prime of his career.

Why are some fans so outraged that Raheem wanted £100k a week but happy making Milner one of the highest paid players at the club, citing it's how things are now in the market.

I don't mind if fans are happy with Milner - I'm happy to some extent. But let's not overhype his ability or exaggerate his impacto on the City team. The worst is making him out to be some sort of hard working, innocent professional because he's clearly a mercenary (and there's nothing wrong with that).

To turn it around why wouldn't fans be outraged that Sterling should expect pay similar to Milner when he's achieved **** all in the game whereas Milner has proven his consistency at the top level and won most things?

If Sterling wasn't a **** and really wanted to win things he'd put the effort in and be rewarded. He'd probably earn more than Milner over his career, but he wants to be earning more right now.

You can buy players based on potential but you don't give wages for potential.

Being a bit part/utility player for City doesn't make him worthy of such high wages. If so, then we should sign Wes Brown because he has a lot of experience of titles.

At least with Sterling, he's one of the best youngsters in world football and has proven he can play a big part in the team (as we saw last season and the first half of this where he practically carried our attack). I rather be spending all our resources in keeping him then signing a midfielder who marginally improves us.

It's 110k we're paying not 150k. I'd rather we pay Milner that than Sterling.

I'm fairly confident that we're paying more than that.

It just smacks of short termism - it's as if FSG have abandoned their policy of youth. Which is ironic because the young players we have signed are the only decent signings we've made under Rodgers.

Milner isn't a 21 year old who has achieved nothing in his career yet bar 1 decent season and holding the club to ransom, going off doing unauthorised untierviews etc.

milner wasn't demanding 100k a week at 21... He was getting his head down building his career so when he was 25 got a move to top club and win trophies.

If we were competing with Man City and Arsenal to sign Wes Brown you'd have a point

You're valuing Milner's age far higher than Sterling's ability and potential.

We need to focusing our resources on real quality. Not just someone with an impressive CV off the back of world class players.

When you think of Milner, the first thing people will mention is workrate. The same applies to Allen and Henderson.

It's not what we need. I'd certainly welcome it but not for the reported wage.

Out of curiosity, if you had to sign either Can or Milner, which one would everyone go for?

    Disregarding price.

Short term is what we need. We've had 3 years of signing potential and have loads.

We urgently need experience for right now. Really urgently.

Uncomparable signings. Can is for the future, Milner is for now. Can is also more defensive.

Saying which I'd prefer is pointless as we need both.

If i were offered a direct choice and ignoring the very sensible post Flappy made then i would say..... i cannot ignore price.. that has a huge bearing..

Ok can is a risk... (i am assuming hindsight is not allowed here ffs) 10mil invesment and 50k in wages but will have some residual fee

milner is not a risk, fitness has never been an issue and its 150k per week so moeny is near enough the same... therefore all thats left is residual values

I would say last summer offered the same i'd take milner.

right now i'm grateful we have a player with a good bit of potential in can but one that needs to settle into midfield next year.. and i'm grateful we have a player in milner who won't vanish like joe allen when a decent team plays us.

    Both are central midfielders.

If you only had 1 spot as the CM, who would you pick? Disregard fees or age.
