SkySports today reporting that we're back in for Jason Scotland... As long as it's a good deal for us I think he could be good back up... The 32-year-old striker was a big hero to the Swans faithful during a stint at the Liberty Stadium between 2007 and 2009 that yielded 45 goals in just 90 games. Such prolific form attracted the attention of Wigan Athletic but his debut campaign in the Premier League was largely one of disappointment. Thereafter a switch to Ipswich followed and to date at Portman Road he has scored 10 goals in 39 appearances. Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers is convinced the Trinidadian hit-man can cut it in the top flight and is ready to offer him a fresh chance in the Premier League. Initial talks have begun between the two parties, with Scotland likely to be interested in being reunited with the club where he enjoyed the best of spell of his career.
scotland is a legend but i cant see this being true dont think he was ever good enough for the premiership
He'd be a great player to play off, and if he's allowed to turn, your guaranteed a goal!..................... please log in to view this image
but how many team in the PL will allow him time to turn? i was a big fan of his when he was with us last. most fans thought he was lazy. but he scored 50+ goals in 2 seasons correct me if im wrong. but for him to be firing on all cylinders he needs game time. so as a back up player i dont think he will do the job for us. if you look at the stats he dont score many in the first few games for us.
Really admire Scotland and all that he did when he was here ... but I don't see the sense in this. He's two seasons past his sell by date. What does this say about Moore / Beattie.
Sure it's would be great for him to be back at the Swans for old times sake, but I just don't think we need him to be honest, then again I said the same about Leon and he came back and was quality for us.
I'm sorry but this is getting ridiculous, Scotlands time has been and gone, we don't seem to be able to attract anyone, on top of that we're losing players, we NEED to pay more to get some quality in and to keep the players we have or we are going to be mullered every game, even worse how long is BR going to stick around before he gets an offer he can't refuse.
i think leon will be to light weight in the premiership and wont feature much when Brendan See's this, scotland was not mobile enough for wigan and they had to let him go back to the championship, we dont need another striker until we sort other positions first....
I agree with Dswan Scotland has had his time with us and moved on and he also said before he went to Ipswich that you should never go back to a former club where you have done so well.So all in all it would be a bad deal for us if he returned.
I think this is all BS lads. Maybe in the championship we could have made something of old scotland but in the PL...No Chance. As someone above said, He is way past his sell by date. Thanks but no thanks.
I think if we can get him cheap and on low wages, why not? He knows our system, and you know damn well he'd be out to prove a serious point in the Premiership... and on top of that we've improved as a team since his time here. He knows where the bottom corner is better than Moore and Beattie, that's for sure! I think with adequate game time, and a bit of luck early on, he'd surprise a few people with us in the Premiership.
If this was exactly a year ago I would say bloody right get him in , great player who knows where the net is! The problem is its not, and I don't think he will be good enough for us in the premier league, he failed to make the step up with Wigan, can't see him coming to us, though I do wish him well
dont waste any money on scotland, he has proved that he is not premiership material and never was, he would never fit into brendan's way of playing anyway.....even if he was offered for free and took £20/week in wages it would still be £20 down the drain..
I think as back up he would be okay. Better than what we have currently got. If we had Singed Soriano, and then added Scotland I would certainly be happy.
