It would be good to get a manager in asap but agree that it's good not to rush in and just go for the obvious. You'd have thought that Congerton would have a shortlist about 2 months ago though (contingency planning?). The fact is that whoever we get in,we won't know how they'll be until they get going.I had high hopes for MON, Di Canio and Poyet but it all went horribly wrong. I'm sure I'll have high hopes for the next guy as well and get really naffed off with those that will inevitably knock him from the start and not give him a chance. There were quite a few who did that with Advocaat. It would be nice if the choice was inpiring but we may uncover a gem that no one knows much about. Norwich seem to have done it and their manager is from Scotland! It will be interesting to see how he gets on in the Prem though. Difficult to be patient though, just wondering at what point I put the bet onthat Sunderland finish above Newcastle.
looking for clues: Neil Mcdonald has been appointed Blackpool manager. He's been Big Sam's assistant in his last 3 jobs. That would seem to confirm that Sam wasn't kidding when he said he was taking a break from the game.
Schuster is the latest hat thrown in the ring amongst just about everyone else, had a look at his record etc dealings with media and doesn't,t look like the one for me
Rumour from Peterborough (bloke at the club shop apparently - so he`s bound to know) that Darren Ferguson might be in the running - please God no
According to The Sun, Sunderland are considering a move for ex-Real Madrid manager Bernd Schuster as they look to replace Dick Advocaat. Any one know out about him
This has come out of Germany. Former Real Madrid boss Bernd Schuster is in talks with Sunderland to become the next manager at the Stadium of Light. Dick Advocaat kept true to his word and ended his short stint in the north east last month after navigating Sunderland out of a relegation threat this season. Sunderland are on the lookout for a permanent manager and have canvassed a number of candidates over the last weeks – but it seems their search has reached its last lap. According to Italian news outlet Tutto Mercato, former Real Madrid manager Schuster is in advanced talks with the Black Cats to become their new manager for next season. It has been claimed that the 55-year-old and his entourage held a meeting with Sunderland officials in Madrid yesterday to discuss the idea of Schuster taking the reins of the Premier League outfit this summer. Both parties are said to be happy with the outcome of the meeting and a three-year contract for the former Real Madrid boss has been discussed. Another meeting will be held in England next week to finalise the details of the contract and an agreement is expected to be signed. The former Germany international has managed clubs such as Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk and Getafe. His last managerial job was at Malaga, where he was sacked last year.
Aye this rumours knocking round now like. Any info from the club about the alleged meeting? Not sure what I think. Pretty experienced and like Dick, doesn't look like he would be mucked around.
Schuster wasn't good enough for them up the road apparently http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-McClaren-dismissing-Bernd-Schuster-link.html
