Interesting article in the Mirror about the distribution of Premiership money.

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/premier-league-prize-money-five-5813028?

One point the article didn't pick up on was how much more money Newcastle got than most of the teams because of the amount of televised games. We got the most money outside of the top 4 and Liverpool. It meant we got almost £7m more than Sunderland who were only a place below and more than Tottenham who came 5th. The TV
companies obviously still see us as a bigger draw than most. Not sure whether that is going to continue for much longer though under the currently regime.

Sickening amounts of money flowing into the club, but never coming out the other end.

Veritable typhoon should be coming out of St James with the money we've been saving up.

Because of the TV appearance money we got the 10th highest amount from the Premiership despite only finishing 15th in the league

I'm expecting a net of 5m to be spent. Another 35m into the nufc "bank account".

Honestly, Ashleys desperation attempt to motivate fans at the end of the season was awesome. Now If he doesn't spend, all of the media outlets will crucify him. He admitted he was running the club like ****. I feel like most commentators were oblivious to his BS. I

Break even. But then you have agents fees etc etc, and of course injured players returning like a new signing.

"Meet our new signings - We've signed this Rolando Aarons lad, bit tasty, and we have former Dutch international called Siem De Jong. Then there is Sylvain Marveaux, a talented frenchman who Liverpool once wanted. We have Massimo Haidara, a promising left back and future french international. We have Lascelles and Darlow, future England internationals. Finally we have signed a midfield destroyer named Cheick Tiote.

So all in all we have 7 new players and they've cost about 40m once you add in agents fees, flights, coffees, transfer fees, ironing bills. We're set for a big season. Get your season tickets now, not many left. Closing down sale, £5 off. NOTE: £10 surcharge for the craic"

Honestly who knows, Ashley is unpredictable, maybe he has turned a corner, but I'm a great believer in looking at what has gone before until action tells you differently.

It gets even crazier when you realise that figure is due to increase to over £130,000,000 once the new TV deal kicks in the year after next.
