Ex Lib-Dem leader dies at the age of 55. I have never been a Lib-Dem voter, but I do believe he was a man who was in politics for the right reasons and had his heart in the right place..
Never met the bloke but saw him on one of my trips to west coast - people really seemed to relate to him as a man of honesty and integrity, uncommon in politics. Seem to remember he had an alchohol problem quite a few years ago? 55 years old Jesus that's far too early to cmeet the maker.
Such a shock when I got up this morning to hear the sad news. RIP chat show Charlie. (As he was known) As usual, one of the good guys taken so young.
I'd rather have had a beer with him than that pillock Farage! Listening to the radio into work this morning, he sounded like a real good bloke with no enemies in the world, a very rare quality in politics these days. RIP
Not disrespectful at all Funky.. Yes he did have an alcohol problem makemdan...Had a massive detrimental effect on his political career at the time, and I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that it has been a contributory factor in his death.
So sad to go at such an early age!! Enjoyed his wit and views on serious subjects as well. If only "Dear Tony" had heeded his advice on Iraq!!
http://metro.co.uk/2015/06/02/alex-...s-hours-after-his-death-5227064/?ito=facebook I see that obnoxious twat Salmond has got his snide remarks in over Kennedy's death.
I don't like Salmond much either but I think his comments here are being taken out of context. Whats wrong with saying the guy's heart wasn't really into a particular subject but would have been more concerned with something else? There was a lot of mention of his drink problem yesterday. That wasn't disrespectful, just an honest opinion of who the guy was and the problems he faced, from many of his closest friends. People are just too ready to leap to wrong conclusions of others these days.
I think that saying that his heart wasn't in it 3 hours after his heart stopped is at very best insensitive to the extreme... Maybe others see it differently, but that is how I see it..
Oh that one was straight over my head RAW! Wasn't having a go at you by the way. I was talking about people who pick comments up on Twitter or Facebook, whatever, and who go straight to press about a one liner someone has said that can be read differently and who always seem to go for the worst version.
Nee bother mate..Nowt wrong at all having different opinion and views..It would be a pretty boring forum if we all agreed all the time..
