Now the football is done is anyone going? It's sold out weeks in advance and meant to be cracking weather. I've no interest in cricket like but it's an excuse to be on the Tizer early doors in the Headingly sun.
Is it on Sky ? I went to The Test Match on Saturday at Headingly, but it is very slow proper cricket compared to the T20.
Yep, It's on Sky. I too went on Saturday, yeah it was a bit slow in the last session, we left with about half an hour to go and you had to queue to get in both The Skyrack and Original Oak, it seemed most of the western terrace had beaten us to the pub.
I've no idea but I'd be surprised if it wasnt. I cant imagine many T20 games get as much interest as this one.
I was at Durham vs Yorkshire on Friday, bloody weather could have been better, but decent turn-out and a disappointing defeat, but good game. Back on Saturday for Duraham vs Warickshire and most of the games as I am a Durham CCC member with mates - good days/nights out. Looking forward to the England vs New Zealand one day innings test on the 20th but £45 a ticket is steep as my season pass cost just £165 for all 4 day, all T20 and all one day cups - great value!
I used to drink in those boozers daily, is the Indian still next door to The Skyrack (Tariqs?). Took part in a mass snowball fight one New Year's Eve on the Oaks bowling green many moons ago. Happy Days.
Yep, still is. The Oak sacked off the bowling green years ago and it's just a massive beer garden now. It's amazing on a glorious day.
It sold out weeks ago. I booked my tickets about 2 months ago and there were hardly any left in the western terrace. I know championship matches are poorly attended but it's times like this, and the Ashes, that I really think we should have bigger 25k stadiums.
Where do you live? If it's not Leeds then I'd recommend the train in to Burley Park, parking will be a mare. I'm getting a taxi there and back and getting leathered.
Cricket is supposed to be a great day out, I have quite a lot of mates who go, the only problem I can see is you have to watch cricket while you're there.
Like I said in the OP, I've got no interest in cricket at all but I can confirm, weather permitting, it's a ****ing brilliant day / night out. And then on top of that T20 is like watching slogging on the beach, it's not really cricket at all and just a bit of a doss.
Nope. Have you ever heard of the beer tent ? Cricket looks much better after a few pints. Talking of which England doing there best to chuck this NZ test away. 57 for 2 . Lyth and Ballan e out.
I can guarantee you would have enjoyed a day at cricket with Peter, for me it was the perfect day out.
I love a day at the cricket, just arranging to go to some of Yorkshire's games at Scarborough this year. Always a great day out at Scarborough!
I was at Headingley on Saturday as well. Good to see Lyth get his maiden Test century on his home ground. Some good craic from the Western Terrace as well. Pity about the result.
Well that was a hell of a game. Thought we'd pissed it one stage when they needed 16 an over but they just shifted up through the gears to get the 1 run on the last ball. Memory is a bit hazy but I seem to remember Bresnan getting smacked around a bit on the last over. Great night anyway and ending with the girlfriend throwing up on my drive
